Bite Me Trip 5-12

Well i was invited to fish with Lou and the boys Saturday 5-12 out of Morehead City NC. I hadnt talked or seen Lou in a while and it was a pleasure to fish with him again. Me, his son and a few others drove up to the boat Friday night and met him at the boat. Lous Friend and her son joined us for Dinner and they were pumped and ready for their first offshore trip.

The plan was to fun fish and have a good time and that we did. We left the dock a little after 7:00am. Once we reached our destination we put the spread out. Most of the crew had never been offshore so they were pumped and ready. Before we knew it the right short popped and no hookup..i dropped back and there he was. Matt in the chair and about 5 min. later a nice 20lb dolphin in the box. Lou and i re rigged and put the spread back out. Within 15 min the mousetrap was nailed and the reel was singin! Jake was in the chair and i handed the rod over and he started crankin. Not even 5 min he had pussed out and Matt jumped in the chair. Me and Lou didnt know what the hell to think Well he cranked and cranked and the fish was whoopin him but eventually the fish came to the boat. What we thought was a big mahi turned out to be a fat wahoo that looked every bit of 55-60lbs but weighed in at 45. It was there first wahoo ever and a nice citation fish. We got the spread back out and it then got slow. The rest of the day was slow..we did get another dolphin in the boat and Zack age 13 did a nice job of landing and it was his best fish to date. We trolled for a few more ours and then pulled back and picked up the spread.

Most of the crew wanted to go for a quick swim in the nice warm water. They swam around jumped off the stern,tower you name it they were jumpin They all had a great time and i did aswell. We picked up and headed back toward the dock. Everyone had a great time and we had some nice fish..seemed slow for most so we didnt do bad at all in my book.

Cleaned up the boat and fish and i was headin back to Wilmington around 7:00p.m. A great time was had by all and another successfull day offshore aboard the Bite Me. Lou has pics and video if he'll ever get online

Nice job guys! Sounds like a fun time out there, and a little meat in the box as well. That must have been you guys leaving as we were pulling in. By the time I got lines on and papers signed, Lou was the only one left. Catcha next time.
