    bird daisy chain

I'm trying to figure out how to rig bird daisy chain correctly.I have boone bird and 4 six inch squids. For the bird do you put a safety line on it incase it breaks.A cross top or bottom? The chain 4 squids with floats in all or weight in some of them?Last squid put a snap swivel in so I can switch trailing baits? How long of leader should the trailing lure have from the daisy chain? Thank You to all that respond,Nellie

Hey Nellie I can't believe nobody has replied to your question yet. Seems everybody is wrapped up in tournament fever these days. This is how I would rig that chain... It works out well, I'm sure there are other ways, here’s mine...

Start out with a 13’ piece of 200lb mono. Crimp a loop in one end. Be sure to include some sort of chaff protection. When sizing the loop to be crimped be sure that it will fit through the rear wire loop on your bird. Once you have completed that, fill your teaser squid with foam floats. Insert a squid, bead and crimp in that order for every teaser squid you run. Cinch your squids down on the leader. I like mine one and a half squid lengths apart. On the last squid finish off this part of the chain with a ball bearing snap swivel. You can use what ever you like for a hook bait. We run ilander bally combos or the standard green machine. Your leader on the hook bait should again be 200lb test and 3’ long. This sets up your chain. I secure the chain to the bird in the following manor. Holding the bird round side down/flat side up, insert the loop end of the leader through the wire loop in the back of the bird going from bottom to top. Pull the leader though the wire loop, over the flat side of the bird up to the wire loop on the nose of the bird. Now using the snap swivel connected to you mainline, clip both the loop end of the chain and the wire loop on the front of the bird. You have now connected the whole mess and have incorporated a built in safety line.

I’ll grab ya some pics if you can’t follow all that fine literature. Good luck with it.
