What easy to tie knot can I use to double up my line about 5 feet and use a cats paw to attach my swival with 80 pound mono?

is the easiest and a pretty dang strong knot. I use it when I am in a big hurry. It works good in a pinch and I trust it.
Double the line as long as you want it. Make an overhand knot and go through it 8 times. Like instead out a double granny knot you make a octuple granny knotI do this in two pull throughs. Like 4 times through and pull it all out and then 4 more. That makes it easier to manage. Then simply grab the doubled ends of the knot and evenly tighten down on the knot. Before it gets tight I wet it and then pull hard and snug it tight. It should be clean and pretty.
I would suggest learning a bimini and an australian braid but that knot will work until you figure those out.

Spidey Hitch..easy being the operative word and tied correctly works..not as strong or full proof as Mr. Bimini or the Aussie Plait, but has worked year after year on alot of big ones..has to be tied correctly tho..alot of videos showing you how to tie it show several ways..the way i learned it was make the loops from the back (meaty) end of thumb looping forward to the loop..wet to cinch er up..
I will say Momoi Tournament Hi Vis did not like the knot..
The reason I like it..if your doubler get's f'd..I could cut and re-tie in about 30 seconds if I concentrated..another 15 for the paw (offshore swivel looper)..done..reclip..back in the game.
This is the right way to tie a spider hitch..you will see many people go from front of thumb to back..my opine is not correct. Also, many people loop around thumb which is not necessary..large line # test go right over thumb and index finger.
We never had problem with a Palomar knot right to the swivel when tied correctly for those days when the bite was skittish..cut off all double lines..right to the swivel with a Palomar..got the extra line vis out of the water..fwiw.

I have never seen a rose knot fail. I learned that knot in San Diego long rage fishing and used it on every tarpon leader in pr. That being said I'm not going to billfish with it.

For 80lb go with the Aussie braid, once mastered it is easy to do.
Tips for this knot....
Pull each leg firmly upwards whilst plaiting.
Do not pull the last part of the knot up too tight or it will bunch.
Aussie braid every time for me, you can tie it on a pitching deck with slimy hands by yourself in a hurry... try that with a bimini!
hotreels jr,
Just learn to tie a Bimini it's really easy, works on any size line from 2# to 130#, with a little practice you will be able to tie it as fast or faster than any other knot you use weather it's in any rough seas or not and it is 100%.
If you live near a fishing dock just watch some of mates tie one - it take them about 30 sec.

Being a bit of a klutz, digitally, I had trouble with the bimini until I started tying it in spectra. This made it very easy, and being able to practice it with spectra has allowed me now to do a fare job on mono up to 130. Try it the easy way, spectra, until you get the hang of it and then move to mono.
