I fished the Manasquan River Marlin and Tuna Club Offshore Open with Matt Malkiewicz and Andy Ramnanan this weekend. In very sloppy seas we ran offshore of the Hendrickson Canyon in order to find good water, but the effort paid off. I found the temperature break and clean water and started trolling and we hooked up with this blue on a rigged ballyhoo. An hour and a half later we had the release, but unfortunately we didn't place in the tournament. another boat had hooked up before us. We picked up a couple of mahi during the day, but the building seas and impending forecast convinced us to cut the trip short and head for the barn. Again very sloppy seas on the ride back, we left the Hudson Canyon at 4 PM and didn't get back to the dock until 10:15 PM.
