whitey if you have been in the trans business as long as you have surely you have read or been to a seminar where they explain this. atra atsg aamco tech, iatn, trni, transgo perhaps? why do burnt out light bulbs cause a ford e40d to burn up? trace that circuit if you never had a no lockup condition, and we all know what happens to an overworked e40d without lockup dont we....keeps you chasing whity.....and why do late models of all makes shudder to a stop using improper led bulbs for replacements? because there isnt enuff current draw for the computer to realize your foots on the brake to release lockup . they come out of lockup once road speed is reduced though. theres warnings put out to add resistors into the lights circuit to make up for the leds minimal current draw. leds tapped into the trans wiring wont burn anything we do it all day long testing vehicles. ever use a signal monitor or tranx?

didnt want to post brands again but for those that wanted to know they were innovative lighting led running lights. also the same problems have been encountered with rope lights from ""superbrite leds", all i wanted to do is warn someone before its too late. leds use resitors in their make up supposedly sealed in fire proof material. maybe this company used cheap potting? the rope lights have no protection you have a hot resistor in a plastic hose !

E4OD's go bad because they have weak sun gear shells, reverse pistons and they had a problem with the shift solenoids in the earlier models. Over the years we have probably rebuilt somewhere in the area of 500 E4OD transmissions in pickup trucks, Uhaul trucks and ambulances and have never seen a failure due to the lighting of the vehicle. I will put a call into our tech line tomorrow to see if they have ever heard of the problem you are describing but I highly doubt they have.

I don't know shit from shinola about this technology other than LED lights are some kind of advanced diode. However, it seems clear that this technology is the lighting source of the future and is used by some real smart people in their equipment--- NASA, US military, industrial controls, etc.
However, apparanty there are some potential fire hazard issues associated with poorly designed/built products. Underwriters Laboritories is holding a LED technology symposium in Oct. to address standardization and minimum design requirements for LED lights--- this will include risk of fire. As I understand it (which is stretching things), UL has some LED standards, but not enough going forward for the boom in new applications of this technology.

Now, if I could just get my cigarette lighter to quit blowing up the rear differential in the truck, life will be good.

OK that does it - how does my redneck corona drinking buddy turn into some sort combination of Dexter's Laboratory and Johnny Cocharon all wrapped in one. Dude you need to go back to missing white marlin and cutting yourself. Thats the real you isn't it?

I hear ya bro--- This condition has been bugging the hell out of me and got so serious that I've been in therapy and had clinical tests performed the whole summer---. The Doctors think they have it about figured out---- this alcohol moderation fad I tried has been the problem all along.

Don't try this silly fad yourselves boys & girls. The side effects suck. Did you know that with sobriety when you wake up in the morning it is the best you're going to feel all day long?
I'm now in a recovery program and things are getting better. Hell, I missed two Red Drum last weekend after a six pack, so things are improving.
