I guess my wife heard me talking to the girls about it being too rough to fish on Sat because she suggested that I go on Sunday. Even though I said I couldn't go fishing on Mother's Day, she said "whatever, it's just a day. We'll have our Mother's Day on Saturday." Best wife EVER!
Made it out of NRI right about 530. Seas were definitely a bit choppy but nothing too crazy. Made it out to Divers Rock and put the spread out hoping for some spanish and bonito. Trolled maybe 20mins before we had our first fish on. Ended up being a decent king about 15lbs that hit the top water plug. Ended up pulling the plug boat side. Oh well, get the spread back out and pick up two more kings, two bonito, a spanish, and a FA over the next couple ours. Saw some great marks over one of the ledges so we decided to bottom fish for a bit before we headed out deeper. Picked up one nice Gag about 10lbs and a few nice BSB.
Headed out to about the 12 mile mark and fished another ledge for a while picking up a few more good BSB and losing what would've been a really nice Gag. Worked our way out to about 15 miles picking up only small BSB and grunts. Final ledge of the day held A TON of cigar minnows! Evidently, they were enough and we couldn't get anything big to bite. Ended up having a really nice school of AJs at the boat but those bastards wouldn't eat a thing! Live bait, dead bait, cut bait, jigs, plugs....nothing! Would've been a nice end to a great day but oh well.
