    Color

I hate to have totally turned this post into a discussion on spreader bars but I originally posted with the question of incorporating a bar into a spread of similar colored baits. If you were going to do it, would ya'll opt for a similar colored bar with similar chase bait or change it up?

The only bar I have is made of blue/white squids so throwing it in our spread of witches would make sense to me if you are going for the look of a school of baitfish.

    Ideas? Opinions? Suggestions?

    MY PLANS

Purple, i can only comment on what i do bro.

When i fish my spreader bars, i usually try to make them similiar in colors, and there always squids.

I usually fish to rasta colored squid bars, and off the flatlines i will run two daisy chains with rasta colored squids. Right next to the bars and a little in front of.

I have found this really resembles a nice pod of squids. Its worked good for me in the past.

When we head down NC this year i am planning on trying somehting one day. I whant to run a entire spread of BLUE and White islanders. I also whant ot make up a bar of b/w islanders whitch i will run directly in the middle of the spread. Then as the chase bait maybe run oddball, something like a big pink and whtie chugger.

    ITS WORTH A TRY

Thanks for the input Gaffman. I'm headin to OI tomorrow and I think we are going to pull the bar in the middle as you suggested. The one I have is blue and white shell squids, not the moldcrafts. I think it brings too much attention to not put it out. I plan on running it down the middle with everything else pulled in tight around it except for the shotgun. The chase bait will be an islander to fill the gap in the middle behind the bar. Hopefully, the fish will try and pick off the baits on the outside of the school, which will result in multiple hookups.

Like you said, it's worth a try.

The bar will work for you...blue/white works but I prefer green squid bars.

A boat I fish from often (out of VA Beach) has enough beam where we run one bar off each side (13-15" squids) which will have green machine trailers. Then we have 3 flat lines with ballys and short/long riggers with ballys and also two more ballyhoo baits down the midde short and long. Colors are usually similar but not always.

Had some epic bites this year with this spread...lots and lots of multiples.

Pack the ballys around the bars, make them swim nicely and run em' (the tunas) over...and let the fun begin.
