    Beaufort to Manteo, Aug 18th

Helped a buddy run his new Predator 35 up the coast on Wednesday in order to get ready for the fall run off Oregon Inlet. I had called in a Roffs shot for Norfolk to Hatteras region for our fishing day but since no one had ordered the Ocracoke analysis, Mitch Roffer himself rang me up Tues evening for a custom analysis. Knowing from his report that the best water was at the Big Rock or way north at the point, we left Radio Island around 6:15 and headed to the slot. Slick a$$ calm and we let 'er eat. We rolled up to some good weedlines just south of Hatteras and fished some floating trees and docks and pulled off some bailers. This repeated itself a couple times as we got to the rockpile...missed a wahoo bite on the planer and a couple of mahi later, we headed on North. Pulled up at the Point and bailed a few more. Looks like the better water was still way north of us and after running over 100 miles already, that good water would have to wait.

Tied up into Pirates Cover to see HogWild with 8 release flags, another boat had 7 I believe. Needless to say, the boat is now ready for the tunas to show back up. And you can be guaranteed ol' whitey's going to get his soon too.

A couple of pictures of the ride; I get too busy in the cockpit rigging and clearing to be a cameraman. I need to get something mounted with a remote control I guess.

Definitely. We also saw a couple acres of pilot whales. Ready to get back ASAP.

Hope that you were able to teach Marshall a few things about fishing. Now that he has mastered the domain of women he should be all set.

Definitely tried to teach Marshall some new tricks....between his drinks!

Good guy; hope to catch up and fish with him again.
