Barta Tournament Thank You

I would like to thank all of you on this site who spent $10 for a ticket, donated items for the auction, donated trips for the auction and genuinely cared that it is important for us to raise money for the kids of Coastal Carolina. With your help we have been able to raise $600,000 in just seven years for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina. Not a lot of tournament can say they raised that amount of money in 7 years. There is absolutely NO WAY this could have been accomplished without those of you on this website. You all are the most generous individuals I have unfortunately “never” met.

A special thank you to Marty Hiatt, Fred Cory and David Sikorski for all you did and a special BIG THANK YOU to a man I have never met but sure have bugged a lot over the years JER!!! You kept the website up and running and looking 1st class. It goes without saying Thank You John for all you have allowed us to do over the past 7 years.

I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that you and the Barta tournament in general are a CLASS ACT!!!! Hats off to you. I am happy that I am one on this site that has had the pleasure of meeting you and hope to see you again next year as a participant... and of course as a supporter.

I'm proud to be involved with the Barta - It is great to see all of the families fishing together and having fun together - all in support of the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Cynthia, It was entirely my pleasure to help out with such a wonderful event. Seeing the joy in each of the kids faces and the excitement under the tent each night was absolutely enriching. It wasn't just about the fish, the weather or the accomplishments that each boy or girl was a part of. It was about the content of character that each participant has inside them. Truth, honesty, sportsmanship and integrity. Characteristics that we could all do better by paying attention to.

One "happening" at the tent on Friday night really hit me hard. A little boy took his allowance and bought a ticket for the Stella/Rod auction. He sat by that rod all night and I even glanced over a couple times, only to see him touching it and petting it like a little puppy. I went up to him and asked him what he was thinking about. He said that the rod and reel would be really cool to have and the fact that he spent his entire allowance (and here is where he hit me hard) not for the rod, but the money goes to the kids that don't have as much as he did. After hearing that and getting that lump in my throat, I patted him on the back and said "You know something? You are going to go far in life! Be true to yourself and true to others and all else will work itself out, just fine" He sheepishly smiled and said "Yes Sir......... But it would sure be nice to win that rod!!!"
I look forward to taking it up a few notches next year. I look forward to beating this years benchmark with the Angler's Envy Rod auctions, two fold next year!!! Maybe 3!!!
