Barta Boys & Girls Club Billfish Tournament and Auctions

The Barta Boys & Girls Club Billfish Tournament is the brain child of Capt. Tred Barta. Entering its 8th year it is the only 100% release billfish tournament in North Carolina and is part of the North Carolina Governors Cup Billfish Series.

“The tournament is designed to give every boat an even playing field, to take time in our busy lives to embrace what sport fishing is all about, to celebrate the wind in our face, enjoy our family and friends and compete at the highest level where we trust our fellow man. If you said you released a billfish, you did. What is your reward? A hand shake, a trophy and recognition from our peers that we tried our best and we lost or won honorable. To me this is what life is really about and what our children need as a base to build on”, - Capt. Barta

The entry fee is kept small so any size boat, family and pocket book can afford to fish. The first 20 boats 39ft or less can enter the billfish tournament for $500 and have a chance to win that back during the Captains Party. General entry fee to the billfish tournament if $800 and you receive a $300 tax deduction letter as a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs.



This year an “inshore” tournament has been added and the entry fee is only $350. No matter what you pay to enter you receive four tickets to three amazing meals, all beverages, captains bag and three nights of fun for all. Not only is it a great value to those who fish, 100% of the proceeds go to the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina.



This auction is one way we all can help support these kids and get a really nice items that we can enjoy.



Over the next few days and weeks, We'll be adding items to be sold, Auctioned and raffled off to benefit the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolinas - Three Clubs - Morehead City, Beaufort, and Havelock.

The Tournament begins Thursday with the Captain's Meeting at 6:30. Fishing is Friday and Saturday 0800 - 1400 - I hope to see some of you there.
