Those are the facts. Anyone who doubts that is invited to do the research, which those who disagree obviously have not done the first time around.

Also, anyone who can't see that there is a great difference between a MarlinBar that has been designed to eliminate the negatives of traditional bars when it comes to marlin fishing and has not even fished with it, but somehow knows that it will not work displays a level of wisdom that I have never seen among the many great fishermen and captains that I have had the privilege to fish with. And ignoring the fact that ballyhoo can be and are often pitched to the fish with these methods? And also ignoring the fact that all bait, of course including ballyhoo, travels in schools and insisting that presenting schools to them "won't work"?

I am not going to say what I personally think of those kinds of things because I might not be able to do that politely and doing that sort of thing simply isn't my style, but I'm not going to sit back and let people who haven't tried things imply that I am bsing people about lures and techniques that work and hollering to the high heavens that things that are IGFA legal aren't.

    Over
Used a teaser or with release clip yes, but otherwise NO! Here are two rules cut & pasted from the IGFA rules. The second rule really puts you in a bind, if there is a challenge to your catch at the scales or at tournament time. Now somepeople may not be able to help themsleves with their puffery, but facts are hard things to get away from.
    5. Outriggers, downriggers, spreader bars and kites are
permitted to be used provided that the actual fishing line is attached to
the snap or other release device, either directly or with some other
material. The leader or double line may not be connected to the
release mechanism either directly or with the use of a connecting
device. Spreader bars are also acceptable when used strictly as a
    teaser.
    6. Daisy chains, birds, floats and similar devices may only be
used if they do not unfairly hamper or inhibit the normal swimming
or fighting ability of the fish, thereby giving the angler or crew an
unfair advantage in fighting, landing or boating the fish.

Thank you for posting the rules regarding spreaderbars.

Like I said, the ways discussed here are 100% IGFA legal. I never said anything about the ones that aren't or that there aren't some configurations that I also fish that are banned.

You fish ballyhoo. I fish ballyhoo and bars. All good as far as I'm concerned.

"Fritz", huh? That was my nickname when I was a kid. When I asked my mother where it came from, she told me that my dad had come up with it. It was what he and the guys he flew fighters in the European theater with called the German pilots. I was just a little kid then and replied, "You mean Daddy named me after THE ENEMY? Waaahhh!" She then told me that he had the greatest respect for the Germans' flying and fighting skills and that was why he called me "Fritz".

My dad was an oral surgeon who became an airline pilot who flew for Eastern Airlines. A pretty good number of ex-Luftwaffe fighter pilots came over after the war and flew for Eastern too. My dad and "uncle" Otto, his best bud, figured out that they were in the same dogfight over Berlin and discussed and reminisced about that day to the extent that they finally figured that my dad had actually shot Otto down in that fight! Amazing!

Still, I'm not too sure about that "naming after the enemy thing" and so, no one calls me "Fritz" anymore.

Maybe Named for the Enemy, Captain Fred Archer

After a period of slow fishing we had a good day again !
We saw way more skippies then the last days today and at 3 pm we got a doubleheader of blue marlin on !
I couldnīt believe it after all these days of riding around .
One fish took the Krakatao but just after Manfred got to the chair the fish came off.
Now it was Franzīs time who grabed the rod with the hawaian breakfast and this 700 pound lady stayed connected and put up a great show of jumps !

    Talking b/b

i run the super pro , rpp and and most of all the prowlers period with a mix of the moldcrafts. i pull a 7 line spread most of the time with my center way out with a tahaitian prowler that makes a good smoke trail. the main reason i like this spread is the speed i can pull it at and 95% of the time they dont play around with it they dont have time getting a reaction strike.

pulling the 1656,squid,sr and the rpp i have the lures that dart and dive mixed in with the others that are burning the smoke trails this set up has worked for me from fl to the far south islands .so i dont know if any of you agree with me but lets say turney time where alot of people are pulling a spread say around 6 iam pulling faster and the fish blows this spread apart.

    heres a pic of a few i pull,,,,,,,,,later shane
