birddog - you're probably right no matter what it officially is.

Heard back from some folks at the VMRC who work on the fish tagging program. Response was that it is most likely a banded drum although it had some characteristics of a sand drum as well. I also looked up banded drum and they can have small teeth.

Soooo, back to the original post .. yup, we've caught them on a hook and line on Gulp Sandworm.
