Back yard coon catchin
So I rigged this little delight up in the back yard about a month or so ago. 15 furry friends and counting have fallen to its charm. Crazy to think there is that many walkin around in my back yard. We have 13 acres of bush that back on to the river, plenty of space down there for them to wander around with out being right up to the house. We gotta keep the numbers down else they are tryin to get in to the attic or the barn.
The wire there in the bottom picture, that is the trick... tie it down to the table so the bastards can't flip it over... I do it in wire because otherwise the could chew through it. They are smart creatures I was watching one over on its back trying to push the rings up on the door.

Stop staring at my Avatar.
When they get smart to that...take a five gallon bucket and put a big conibear in the mouth of it and some cat food in the back......gets em every time. I make a living trapping critters out of peoples houses.
FYI....put it up high where the dog can't get in it.

haha awesome idea... so you thinkin it is going to get their arm when they put it in the bucket? or does it get their head?
Lucky enough all the ones I've been catchin are just young ones. Only one that was aggressive when I walked up and poked the .22 through the cage. The rest just sit there. I'm wondering if the guy catchin them all in the city is coming out and letting them loose out here LOL.

I RAN A TRAP LINE FOR YEARS IN COLLEGE....MUSKRAT WAS THE MAIN CRITTER BUT I CAUGHT COONS POSSUMS AND MINK AS WELL
GOOD LUCK IN CATCHING THE LITTLE THEIVES
BEST TRICK FOR ME WAS THE 55 GALLON DRUM SECURED IN CREEK BED.....A HOLE IN THE BOTTIOM TO ALLOW SOME WATER TO COME IN.....AND A SMALL 1X3" PLANK EXTENDING OVER THE DRUM OPENING WITH FOOD ON IT....ONCE THE FIRST ONE GOES IN (FALLS IN) THE REST PILE IN TO SEE WHAT THE HELL THE OTHER ONE IS SO EXCITED ABOUT.

Life is not a popularity contest...
and if...
they figure out how to take the bait without tripping the pan take some 50lb mono and tie it to the bait(chicken bones work well) and then thread it through the top of cage and then back under and tie it to the front of pan. When he pulls on the bone he trips the pan.
