    Austrailian Plait

Does anyone have an easy to follow pictorial or video for this knot I want to try it out but everything I've found on it was lacking at best.

    This will sound goofy.

When I was first trying to learn the Aussie Plait, I was doing it from some web sources. I kept screwing it up. My wife, who is also a fisherman saw what I was trying to do and proceeded to tie two or three perfect knots.

She says that growing up she had to plait her little sister's hair before school. She can tie one blindfolded.

So, my point is this knot has a reputation of being hard but once you learn it, it's one of the easiest in the world. Much easier than a bimini and I feel stronger.

Ask your wife. I bet she can tie one !

Rose knot and a braid are the only ones I tie in mono for a double line. Well worth learning. Gene Vanderhouk taught me on a 10 day out of San Diego and I have been hooked on it ever since. It has so many uses and acts as a spring.

good knot & ez to tie. I was taught to tie it tight at the top, loose in the middle & tight at the bottom. then another guy tells me, Tight all the way thru. I prefer the latter
knot should not be able to move, i.e. slide when heavy drag is applied.

I like to serve each end too. on a bigger fish, that knot can go on&off the rod, across your guides, many times. not to mention the daily beating it will get just from fishing--over the guides when changing/checking baits, etc....
