    attachment to mainline...

Well gang...after my lure rigging question it now brings up another...what is the best way to attach the SPRO swivel to the mainline...I'm running 40# mono on my 50's and braid on my other rod...I was thinking bimini twist on the mono to a cats paw with a coastlock barrel swivel...on the braid I will just tie it direct as there is enough rod tip play to act as a buffer...along with the proper drag setting at strike...

Obviously I can tie the mono also but was thinking the easiest way for swapping out lures...

Forgot my favorite method of attachment...crimping...the single sleeve Malin crimps seem to hold pretty well to the 40# mono...

would still love to hear your thoughts on it though...

bimini or even a triple surgeons knot would do. A cats paw works well with the double line. Just curious, why did you put only 40# on your 50's?

We use the uni-knot system for all our applications for the most part. As far as tying to the swivel with 40lb test we tie. No need to crimp a line that small. We also stay away from the double line less material in the water. If you learn how to tie these konts very well and quickly it will be much easier and quicker than crimping.

You say you like to crimp make sure you are crimping those sleeves properly, lots of good info around here on crimping the sleeves correctly. It can make a big difference do it wrong and you could be cutting your line

    Good Luck and tight lines

The reason for the 40# is it was free at the time and they were supposed to have been changed over to hollow core by now...just have not had the funds to do it...I will eventually get to it though...

throw on some 80# momoi diamond or 80# ande. your way undergunned with the 40#test on 50class reels...

a bimini to a catspaw is how we do it. also, take BOX's advice and use "double welded ring" snap swivels. check these swivels out http://meltontackle.com/products/mel...p-swivels.html
