Decided to head over to the Atlas Tanker today for some kings. It was definitely the right decision. It was one of the most incredible days of fishing of my life with non-stop Kings and albies on light tackle. Fished for 5 hours and caught 50 kings trolling deadbait. In the middle of catching kings we stopped for about an hour and caught close to thirty albies on ten pound test spinning tackle. Lots of awesome strikes skipping a maria jig across the surface with the albies actually skying on it. We caught nearly half of the kings jigging butterfly jigs including a 22 pounder. We decided that since the kings were so thick we would see what would happen if we threw a big popper and had 4 or 5 explosive strikes on the popper with kings skying on it. It was awesome. Biggest of the day was 25 pounds. They were all caught in 63 degree water. Could not have asked for a better day on the water. We had calm seas, beautiful weather, and tons of fish. It does not get any better than that.
