Post April edition of National Geographic

If you have not seen it, you might want to pick it up. It was brought to my attention and it is a great story. The compare the Giant Bluefin Tunas to the Buffaloe out west when they are almost eliminated. Those of you that know me know that BFT is my #1 passion. They tell a great story and I know as well as anyone that you can make statistics swing either way, but read the article. The new Chairman of ICCAT is NMFS very own Dr. Bill Hogarth, many of us in NC know Dr. Hogarth. Lets see how his reign is and maybe stopping the over fishing in some of the other countries and fine them for doing so, but make it a fine that exceeds what they will make, other wise they just as well take the fine. I am interested in seeing what takes place if ANYTHING.

Well I just saw the new regs and looks like F%^KHEAD HOGARTH FU#$ed us, imagine that. Anyway the article is interesting. Hey Hogarth

Unfortunately, we seem to be about the only country that is serious about policing itself, and not using flags of convenience. It makes it so we have to pay the price for everyone else (ahem:Japan,Panama,Indonesia, Bolivia,Cambodia, turkey,Japan,Japan, and Japan..) A growing practice is for ships to relay the frozen tuna offshore, so the only port it ever sees is Tokyo.

They are in serious trouble. Most of them dont reproduce until they are over 200 pounds some dont until they are 300 pounds.

    Whats next ?

I have never caught a TRUE Giant , I wonder if I ever will have a chance at one the way things are going . When The Giants are all but gone , what will be the next species to be targeted ? I can't imagine What will it take to turn the future of these great Giants around ? or is it to late for them ? This really SUCKS !!!!! I still keep hope , I hope they can have a come back someday just like the Broadbill has .
