I could never be a Law Enforcement Officer. I really appreciate their bravery and the Officer's jumping into the frigid water demonstrates their conviction to protect life and property at all costs. That being said, unfortunately the only reason I would have jumped in would have been to hold the two bit thieving *******'s head under water.
As for the "poor " Mother.....maybe she should have raised him better, or at the very least taught him how to swim.

As we are all too aware, in todays world it is ALWAYS someone else who is responsible when problems arise. God forbid if anyone should accept responsibility for their own doings.

I can see it's dangerous for you, but if the government trusts me, maybe you could.
I feel for both the mother and the officer, death of a child is a terrible thing and the officer will probably always wonder "what if"? I have heard numerous times that it's the parents fault and I'm not sure I totally believe that either. I have a friend who by all accounts is a stand up, respectable business owner and great father, yet his younger brother (11 months younger) is in the "big house" for a laundry list of offenses. I watched them both grow up...same rules...same punishment for both, yet one turns out great and the other...well, not so great.
