Anyone working in Iraq?

Having struck out job hunting here in good ole USA I applied for a job with a US contract company working in Iraq doing heavy equipment repair. Anyone worked over there? How many times were you shot at?

Don't know when I'll hear how the job app goes but I think I need to get some info on the area. Also got a lead on a job at Club Gitmo as a Maint. Super, not the kind of money I would expect working abroad but it's Cuba I'm sure I could find somewhere to fish in my spare time. Now I have to convince the wife it's safe to go either place.

I haven't been to Iraq...but my company is doing work there and afghanistan. They take VERY good care of the contract workers, and the uplift is significant for going. I would not hesitate to go.

Cons: living in tents/camps, Islamic nations so strange laws and customs, not much to do other than work and sleep.
