Anyone had a lumbar fusion?

had laminectomy and fusion L4/L5/S1 back in 85. due to bad curvature bone rubbing bone and pressing on nerves. no problems since and i am xxl, .but get 2nd 3rd opinions until you get 2 that match. my first doctor was a quack luckily work comp denied claim , got a lawyer who got benefits restored and reccommended good doctors.

Had a disc pulled L3/L4 30 years ago, secret is to hit the gym after the op rebuild muscles, your doc has most likely told you every 10lb on the gut, is 100lb on the spine!!!!

Thanks for all the reply's guys. Docs wanted to do this two years ago and I put it off. I have austrio arth. degenerative disc desease all my lumar discs are herniated and the stenosis is crushing my cord and I have scoliosus. I've been on major meds for years and have been getting by, The problem now is i've started getting numbness in my ass and groin (really weird feeling) all the way to my toes and weakness in my legs they tell me if I don't do something I could become incontenant(sp)? I will look into another 2nd opinion soon. I was really hoping someone here had some posistive story as I'm not hearing any. Scotty.
