Took the day off yesterday, saw the kids off to school and went looking for some more fish. After 3 weeks of punishing weather yesterday's 75 degrees and light SW winds were a very pleasant change. T-shirts for the last time this year.
Didn't really have a plan other than to be home early for family commitments in the evening, so Biscuit and I went looking south.
We found fish, but had trouble anchoring on their grass lawns. Determined to at least leave a calling card we took a few fast drifts by and coaxed some volunteers on board
A very nice grade of red groupers, suggesting this area hasn't been visited by many. Nice to know!
Early afternoon found us with less than an hour to fish and a decision to make. We were 3 groupers short of a limit, but had found some obliging black sea bass earlier in the day that needed thinning out. Being that the sea bass season is just beginning, we went looking for the gags again. Found them hanging on a wreck under clouds of cigar minnows.
A couple of drops is all it took:
Through the inlet with daylight to spare. On time for the family affairs. Happy wives and a box full of fish!
Life is very good!
