There's just something about putting glue or cement on my fishing line that I can't get comfortable with. Guess it's just me.

Bopping the bottom works if you want to run it right off the bottom all the time. But what if you mark bait and want to run it 40' deep in 75' of water? How much to let out then?

The line counter isn't as easy as marking the lines, if you mark it multiple times. But it isn't hard to do, and it's more versatile. And I don't have to worry about adding something to my line that could cause it to weaken, or for the fish to see. I'm with Basil on this one. Go getcha a couple of $15 line counters.

My rule: If it aint creapin, it aint catchin. Rubber bands dont work for me.

Use rigging/dental floss and tie knots every 10,20,etc feet

Done the rigging floss thing for years. Not a real big deal to do. But you do have to measure out the line to mark it. And as I said, just don't like the idea of glue/cement on the line. And no reason to if you can just use the line counter. More versatile too... you can also use it to tell how much line you're putting on your reels.

    FYI
Jb, Flex cememt is not like other glues, as it is a flexable covering. I found it years ago when I was tieing flys, In flyfishing it is used when a loop is put in a flyline as well as covering the threads on flys. I also do not like glues on lines either, but Flex cement is made to do that...

Lee, does it harden or remain flexible (hence the name, I'd guess!)? And will the floss stay on for a season using it? Who sells it around Morehead? Might have to try some. But I'm still keeping my line counter!

JB, it is always flexable. I use "Flat wax nylon" and it keeps it in place for some time. Make sure your line is dry when your apply it and it will last a little longer, also I will double coat it, give it 15 minuets to dry before winding it back on your reel. Not sure in Morehead, I order it from a friend of mine a box at a time along with thinner. Another product which is the same is "Softex" (not sure how it is spelled) Give Joe Shut a call as he carries fly tieing stuff and I think he carries softex...
