Try the TLD 25 with about 40-50lb test on a stand up rod. You will have an inexpensive combo than is beefy enough to catch a white or average yellowfin. It's also a good combo for cobia or heavy lure rock fish trolling. A couple Tld 25's and Tld 30's and you'll have a good base to start from.
I have 6 Penn 245LD reels on Tsunami 5930R rods. I have 500 yards of 65 lb test Power Pro line with a 40 yard top shot of 80 lb Momoi Diamond Line. Then I have a windon swivel that connects to my Fluorocarbon leaders. I have caught 65 lb YFT's and 50 lb Wahoos on them with no problem.
jayjysmth,
If you're interested, I've got a set of 8 rod/reel combos that I'm about to put for sale on here. They are Bass Pro Shops Ocean Master OML25 reels on 6' all roller stand up rods. Don't be fooled by the reels---they are a Shimano TLD 25 reels with the Ocean Master badge on them. Four of them are brand new and have never seen any kind of water. These reels have no line on them. The other 4 have been used twice while grouper fishing. These 4 are spooled with 400 yards of 80 lb. Power Pro with an 80 lb. mono topshot. The rods are 6' stand up rods with all Aftco rollers. They are the Offshore Angler Deluxe Stand Up rods 15-30 lb. and have the detachable Stuart aluminum butts. They flat out whooped a grouper's ass and I know they will do the same on dolphin/tuna/wahoo/sails. For the reels with no line on them, I have the 50 lb. braid that I was going to put on them still on the spool and will include that as well if you want it. The reels retail for $129 and the rods retail for $229 (not sure how much the braided line would be if purchased separately). If you want them, I'll take $1600 for the set (that's $200 each). These would give you a great start until you can finish out the set with a couple of Tiagra 30WLRSA's.
Tight lines!
