    another good trip

thursday my good friend, mike cribbs, called me & asked to use the boat one day this weekend, no problem. i told him to use it both days since his has been in the shop the past 5wks, & they have not been able to fish, so he took the offer. friday i got the fever & asked him if they had room for me, of course i had to beg.

sat. i met them at the boat & we headed towards the southerly corner of the rock. my job was to drive, i was not supposed to touch a rod, rig a bait, gaff or sling a fish, but that did not last.

we got lines out short of the rock, picked up a couple slingers, but nothing exciting. we picked at a handful of fish working in and out while heading south. finally near lunch we get towards the rise & find some gaffers, hoos, & blackfin tuna. the bite was very good & mike's 2 friends had a great time. i believe this ended to be their best small boat trip yet. ended the day with 23 mahi, 4 hoos, 1 blackfin tuna, & they were still chewing good.

thanks mike for letting me ride along & hope they crushed them again today! will try to get mike to post some pics.

    Nice trip guys.

I tried to give you a radio call to see if you were out.

We were out yesterday as well and didn't do nearly as well as you. I had pretty much the same plan as you, but started trolling just past the 14 towards the SW-BR. My plan was to turn towards the Rise at the SW-BR, but we turned NE. WE only had 4 Mahi knockdowns or pulled hooks, but did manage to land a fat 30lb Wahoo.

By the sounds of the radio traffic that I heard you had one of the better days on the water. Nice Job.

A huge thanks to Chip for the use of his boat this weekend, as an owner of two boats and both in the shop for mechanical/warranty related issues, this trip was well over due.
