Another Crazy Bar Crossing!!!!

Aside from working in some of the worst ocean and weather conditions in Alaska, I also fished Dungeness Crab along the Washington and Oregon Coast were bar crossings were just part of the game, something we didn't have to deal with in AK..Going in and out of Westport, WA the Columbia River and Yaquina Bay in Newport were really bad at times but when I had to cross the bar in Depoe Bay, OR this one was as bad as it gets..If the waves don't get you shooting the hole in the wall is enough to put the fear of god in ya!!! I saw this video a few years ago on a west coast site and after Geoff posted up the OI bar crossing I had to look for it again..

Hell yaa, I been there done that, always hated the Columbia the worst it is a reason it is the training grounds for the CG!!!PEACE

Hey Fastwater,

The Columbia is pretty nasty, use to get a kick out of watching the CG roll there boats when we were coming in with a load of pots on deck..

That's on the Columbia River Bar, I use to go in and out of there all the time to unload Crab in Warrenton, OR..Actually use to live about a mile from the USCG training school, I thought what I do for a living is alittle on the crazy side but those guys have my vote..

I still keep my big boat in Warrenton, Ken did you know Marc Charlton he use to run the thunderbird and now owns the Rubysea Charlton charters, I spent 5 years in the Bering Sea but passed on that Dungy fishing on the coast that Columbia bar flat out is scary in the winter!!!PEACE
