Always Wanted a Billfish on Your Own Boat?

This is about as good a shot as you'll ever get. Join us for

The BARTA BOYS & GIRLS CLUB BILLFISH TOURNAMENT

in Beaufort ( Morehead City), NC. July 21 & 22
The entry fee is a paultry $500 with no cash prizes-- However, it has become one of the premier billfish tournaments in the Country. We are expecting 200+ boats this year and the food and festivities alone are worth the entry fee. This tournament focuses on Jr. anglers and trophies for kids abound. Entry Fee may be tax deductible (if you have a decent bean counter)

Why is this about the best chance you'll ever get in catching a billfish on your own boat??
First, this is prime White Marlin and Sailfish time around the famous Big Rock. Several Blue Marlin will also be caught during the tournament. No 70 -90 mile runs out to the Canyons for this one-- this is Carolina Billfishing

Second, I am personaly commiting fellow SFCers that know and fish the area (especially those who have taken the Bahama Bobs rigging school) to help each and every one of you that come down. No need to bring the Fu Fu down cause this is a naked dead bait only tournament so we don't need to worry about that crap. If interested, we will Rig a few dink baits for you to get you started (Circle and J hook), help you rig up a real dink rod, and give you a general idea of where the billfish bite is.

There will be many SFCers in this tournamnet and the friendly trash talk will certainly be thick--- so grease up them trailer bearings, wash that scum line off the hull and head on down to the Crystal Coast for a weekend. There is a small boat division as well.

Heck yeah Glenn. I fished this tournament last year with my son. It was well worth the money. Its great for the kids. It keeps everyone on an even playing field as well.

Great tournament, great sponsors and its for a great cause.

I registered the Tuna Taxi for the tournament having exactly 0 days of billfish experience under my belt. No that I have 2 days, watch out!

The tournament is all about kids, there is no money on the line, and if you cannot have fun under those conditions, you should re-think your idea of fun. Well, maybe Dave Sikorski and SharkJP find other places to have fun....but for us family guys this is as good as it gets.

Where else will a 65' Hatt, a 23' Grady, a 42' Westmac , and a 35' Cabo all be on the same playing field? Six rods, naked baits, "show me whatcha got" fishing. And anything a kid catches (except the all-release bills) makes it to the scales. Gotta be in on that.

It sure would be nice to have some of the northern guys come down and make a good showing for the tourny. I'm a transplant, born & raised in NJ, now living in VB, so I don't count, but my bro from Neptune, NJ will be fishing on the TT. Wouldn't it be nice to see Admin's ride, JD's ride, and the rest of the Yankees down here tearin' it up with the southern folk? Could make for a nice SFC gathering below the DMZ.

If you can do it, I'm sure you will not be disappointed. It will be a good time for all (did I mention Anheiser-Busch is a sponsor?).

That's OK, JD. You'll make up for it when Garrett, Glenn and I come up there, and you & Mike put us on a nice big shark. By the way, when is the right time?
