Alternate early morning Bluefin rig
I took some 2-1/2oz witch heads that I have had sitting around the house for years now and made up some bluefin witches. However, these are a little different
I first put a pink/clear glow skirt over the head. I then tied on some fine cut fly tinsel flash. I made 2 of these. One is dressed in pink and crystal hair and the other head is skirted in all crystal.
After I finished tying and trimming up the hair, I cut off the bottom of the squid skirts on each witch. When complete this witch ends up being very big and heavy and is a nice compliment to a horse ballyhoo with a 1oz or 3/4oz chin weight.
Just before deploying these in the dark/greylight hours I "charge" them up with a flash light beam. The result is the eyes will glow and half the skirt covering the head will glow for a short time.
I like to run these off the rigger. After the sun comes up, I have a standard goto ilander/jag type lure/ballyhoo combo already rigged up on a different rod to replace the glow witch rig with.
This is probably nothing new to some folks, but it is new to me. I cannot help but think this might get more attention in the dark and grey light hour just before the sun comes up. I have only fished this once. But I will keep fishing it this season.
The glow in the dark picture does not do the rig any justice. It looks alot better in person!
