The airport is in New Bern, NC. There are usually cheap fares from La Guardia, Newark, and Philly. Yes there are rental cars at the airport: Hertz and Avis for sure--- a couple others as well. The airport is about 35 min from the MHC waterfront.

Dave: Craven Int Airport in New Bern, NC

US Air with all flights into Charlotte, NC from North East cities and a commuter plain ride to New Bern. All total with change of plane in Charlotte it takes about 4 hours or so from Philly and you can drive it in 8-9 hours. If you add getting to airport for security checks it may be longer than 4 hours flying but it is the best way if you want to fish and still get home the same day.

Look at flying in to Wilmington (ILM). Several direct flights a day from Philly are availalble - 1.5 hr trip. Will take you about 2 hrs to drive to Morehead from here.
