    8-06-08 FISH WITH BEAGLEMAN

Today we went to LOW FALLS LANDING again, only this time we decided to try the late afternoon bite since the weather has been so dang hot. We got to the landing at about 4pm. Since it looked like a storm may pop up at any time we decided to fish a little closer to the landing. We went down the river just a little ways. The fishing here was not nearly as good as the spots up the river. We maybe got 40 BREAMS and 10 CATS. The size to these BREAMS is a little better though. It seemed the fish were a little slow to bite. You had to almost hit the fish with the bait to make him bite. Still we had a good time. I got to watch several GATORS. We were able to find another MAY FLY HATCH late in the evening and we called it a day at about 7:30. When we were pulling into the yard here at the house, the RAIN began then the WIND and LIGHTNING. By 8:30pm the lights were out and the electric company didn't get the power restored until 5 am.

Yeah.....You see some Monster flatheads down here but the bream dont usually last long wherever they are at. We have caught them as big as 80lb on trot lines in the Santee Lakes and Rivers. Even seen a couple of 60's in the ICW on the brackish side.

HOLWATUGOT that is a very good observation. BLUE BAIT are worms. If you noticed it is a BLUE worm. Hence the name BLUE BAIT. It is not just any worm, but a particular worm that Is found naturally in the swamps around here. Most local bait stores carry this bait for the people shellcracker fishing. They have to be dug in the wild, they can not be raised in beds like other worms. It seems that they produce a high amount of amonia the makes them unsuitable for being raised in beds.
