For what its worth...I have never had a Jobu style or closed throat southern tuna (7691s style) open up or break...However, I have had a 7732 open up about 30 degrees or so.

Pulled the hook? Or damaged/bent the hook? Curious.

I have some Jobu hooks but never used them, a few things put me off, point is chemically sharpened? so cant sharpen yourself? & they are not sharp out of the box.
Just haven't got the confidence to put a hook out that doesn't stick to your thumb nail.
If there is something i am missing about these hooks please tell me.
Pulled the hook. No damage to the 9/0 jobo what . the fish stretched us out pretty good on the bite, with the drag set at 32 pounds. fought the fish for the majority of the short fight at 42# and he was very complacent and calm, had him boat side within 10-15 minutes but never saw the swivel, once he was straight up and down he started acting goofy, head shaking and bucking the rod, i backed the drag down as i was worried of pulling the hook or breaking him off as we already had a nice fish break us off on our 200# mainline earlier in the season. the hook should never had pulled with 28-30# , back to the old reliable. you can make the mustads so sharp they stick in you if you look at them.
