THE 7-PACK RIP OFF

ONCE A MONTH MY FAMILY COMES OVER FOR SOME CAROLINA STYLE HOTDOGS....NO NOT THE PLAIN JANE STYLE SO FREQUENTLY SERVED IN YANKEE LAND OF JUST MUSTARD AND RELISH YUKKK.......BUT A FRESH BUN, WENNIE, HOMEMADE CHILLI, MUSTARD AND CHOPPED ONION....

LATELY I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT BRANDS OF FRANKS ON THE MARKET....I'VE TRIED THE FATTENING BALL PARK FRANKS....I'VE TRIED TURKEY FRANKS...CHICKEN FRANKS....AND I THINK THE OVERALL FAMILY FAVORITE FRANK WOULD BE NATHAN'S BRAND.....EXPENSIVE BUT DARN WELL WORTH IT!

SO I WENT TO THE LOCAL GROCERY TO BUY THESE ITEMS THE OTHER DAY AND THEY ADD NATHAM'S AT HALF PRICE ....COOL I THOUGHT BUT THEY WERE SOLD OUT.............SO....I REACHED FOR THESE INSTEAD....



.....THEY LOOKED VERY GOOD.....AND VERY EXPENSIVE AS WELL...BUT VERY LOWFAT....SO COOL I THOUGHT...LET'S TRY THEM.

I THEN PROCEEDED TO THE BUN SECTION AND PICKED UP A FRESH 8 PACK JUST PLACED OUT ON DA SHELF.....



THERE WERE FOUR OF US DINING SO THAT WOULD BE 2 DOGS A PIECE....AND IF PILED HIGH WITH DELICIOUS GROUND BEEF CHILLI TWO APIECE SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR THE FOUR OF US.

MY NIECE AND HER BOYFRIEND CAME OVER AND THE EVENING GRUBFEST BEGAN..........I WAS SERVING EVERYONE'S PLATE.....THE ATMOSPHERE SEEMED TO BE ALL SMILES AND NO TALKING SO THE DOGS MUST BE GOOD I THOUGHT! I ONLY MAKE & SERVED ONE AT A TIME SO THAT EACH ONE WILL BE HOT WHEN EATEN.......I WAS STILL ON MY FIRST ONE AND THE REST OF THE CREW WERE ALREADY ON DOG NUMBER TWO....

ONCE I HAD INHALED THE FIRST OF MY TWO....I GOT UP FROM THE TABLE TO MAKE MY FINAL DOG


AS I REMOVED THE LID FROM THE CHILLI PAN....I WAS A BIT SHOCKED....I STIRRED THE REMAINING CHILLI AROUND LOOKING FOR THE LAST FRANK.....THERE WERE NONE LEFT....HOW COULD THAT BE? WHICH ONE OF THESE CHOWHOUNDS ATE THREE I THOUGHT? AND HOW COULD ANYONE EAT 3 HOT DOGS SO FAST?

AFTER A RIGOROUS INTERROGATION OF THE THREE IN QUESTION HERE.....I WAS CONVINCED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG !


WE ALL KNOW A PACK OF HOT DOG BUNS CARRY 8 TO A PACK....SO I CHECKED THE HEBREWS OUT: QUANTITY 7 THE PACK SAYS.....NOT 8 BUT 7 WENNIES COME IN THIS BRAND. YOU ARE KIDDIN' ME RIGHT? HOW SORRY IS THAT? IF YOU ARE ONLY GOING TO OFFER A 7-PACK OF FRANKS AT LEAST HAVE THE COMMON COURTESY OF STAMPING A LARGE 7 ON THE FRONT OF THE PACKAGING! OR AT LEAST PROVIDE THE WORLD WITH A 7-PACK OF BUNS!!!

NOW TALK ABOUT A RIP OFF? HOLEY SAMOLEY PEOPLE! THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT CRIME .....A SIN AGAINST REDNECK NATURE! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THE LEFT-OVER BUN? EAT A MUSTARD DOG?

SEEMS THIS STYLE OF RIP OFF IS BECOMING MORE RAMPANT DAYS....NO LONGER CAN YOU BUY A SOLID HALF GALLON OF ICE CREAM...NOPE! .SEEMS THEY LOWERED THAT DOWN TO 1.78 LITER SIZE NOW...THAT'S SLIGHTLY UNDER THE NORMAL HALF GALLON SIZE


OF COURSE THEY STILL CHARGE THE SAME AMOUNT AS A HALF GALLON....THE CARTON STILL LOOKS THE SAME TO THE CONSUMER....EXCEPT FOR THE CHANGE IN DA LITTLE FINE PRINT......7

There is so much of this going on now...box is the same size and the weight is smaller. Tuna in the can has gone from 6oz to 5oz in the last year. Minute Rice has droped from 16oz to 14oz, price has stayed the same. NowI know that prices on everything has go up, butif I need to pay a few cents more for the same size, so be it, just don't try to hide it in the same box...

That just goes to show you that you should have bought the red hot dogs. They are more of a North Cackalackn tradition. Hell, I have to ship them and Dukes Mayo to Chicago to my son so he will have a taste of home.

Box, as someone who eats more than his share of dogs, I had to put my 2 cents in. Nathan's is definately top shelf! You mentioned Ballpark but have you tried their fairly new "Angus beef" version? Quite tasty! I was eating a couple as I happend to open this thread. I go for the bun length (less girth) which allows for more room for yummy toppings.

A few weeks back Mary Ann bought 12 pack of diet Pepsi. One of the cans is EMPTY. Tab unbroken, no hole in the bottom or side just EMPTY. Still have the can, any ideas as what to do with it beside look at it and wonder.

All right Box Im throwing down the gauntlet. Real Yankees do not eat Dogs with just mustard and relish, thats just insulting!!! Real Dogs have ketchup, mustard, relish, chili, onions and melted cheese!!!! Thats how a real Damn Yankee eats a dog.... its all or nothing Baby!!.

As for the best dogs, Nathans arent bad, Hebrew National are pretty good, but the best Ive ever had are Smith's naturally smoked skinless weiners. I dont know if you can get them here or not Sams Club carries them sometimes. They are a Great Lakes region product and hard to find down here, but they are by far the best Dogs I have ever had, especially over an open flame.

It's the way Hebrew National dogs have always been (7 to a pack). One good thing, if you drop a bun or destroy it in some way, you still have enough rolls
