    7/3 MHC late report

Fished last Thursday, usual fishing partner couldn't make it so I went solo. Headed south towards the Rise, beautiful day not completely flat but easy 30kt. cruise. The radio chatter wasn't very encouraging so I decided to try a bottom # that I had marked last year. At first I didn't mark anything promising then the bottom lit up, suspended bait all up and down the column. First drop doubled over the jigging rod, short tussle and up comes a double Trigger catch. Next drop a nice 3lb. BSB then the Donkey showed. Managed to boat 6 very nice Triggers, biggest close to 4lb. 7 BSB around 2.5-3lb. and a couple sharks.

I hoped the bailers would show up like last year bottom fishing but the didn't. I decided to head towards the Rise and look for some grass or rip. About 1/4 mile from the bottom # I came up on a 4x4, deployed a couple weenies and made a pass, immediately they both get ambushed both jumped off. I slowed near the board and there they were I estimated close to 50 peanuts under the boat. I minced up some squid and Ballyhoo to keep them close, broke out the trout rod expecting to bail a limit then back to bottomfishing. Well nearly a hour spent with 5 in the box, they were very tight lipped, tried evrything I had to get them feed, potato chips, ham, squid, shrimp, ballyhoo then finally a handful of Runts.

The trip to the Rise continued I had to finish out the hard way, set the planer the WWB, 2 riggers and 1 flat. Found a rip which resulted in 2 peanuts chewing two hoos up. Reset waiting on the planer to bounce and waited and waited. About 2 mile short of the Rise the planer trips, oh yea then the WWB goes off then quits, then both riggers get attacked. Planer bait snipped off, along with the other, sneaky Hoo. Reset and worked the area again when the short flat pops and a mini sail beats on the biggest bait a BWC Jag then it's gone oh well. Managed 1 more slinger that literally choked on a hoo, hung on all the way to the box with the hook dangling free.

Starting to get late I pulled in a headed for MHC, little disappointed but I weren't going home empty handed, I know there were a few boats that fished alot harder and went in with zero. Pic of what was left after Dad pulled a few samples for inspection

Right on Roger, man I'd love to have some of those triggers. Kinda aggravating when you can't get the bailers to turn on. Did you get your tooth fixed?
