    6/7 MHC Report

With a great looking forecast and Big Rock kicking off, we figured that there would be quite a crowd, so we headed out a bit early to catch some meat and then go looking for trouble deep.

Mahi have been hot lately- find the weed in 25 - 40 fathoms, find mahi. We found the weed line and never got the whole spread out - put these 6 in the boat, let one peanut swim again and pushed offshore.

We found some scattered grass, a few flyers but nothing like a couple of weeks ago. Get the spread set out and start working the 100 fathom line - nothing, not a knockdown, couldn't even catch weed, oh well. Came back inshore late in the day, got 2 shots at a sail and that was it. Nice day on the water, if a bit choppier than the forecast, but I was glad there was a breeze, cuz it was Hot out there.

Sounds very similar to our day. Not a thing wrong with putting some meat in the box and getting back in one piece! Did you grill up that mahi last night?

That weed line went a LOOONG ways, I have not been fishing out of Morehead when it was so calm, I did not know how to act
Your right it was hot out there!
I like it when it is blowing a bit and a slight chop, I think the fish like it too.

Nice work on your fish CLT. We stayed deep all day and worked from the 750 down the NE corner and back up the 700.
Only one shot at a sail.

Still a pretty day but a bit bumpy for my smaller boat. Glad we got to fish though.

Nice report guys! We were out there all day ourselves without a boated fish on the troll. Ended up jigging on the 615 line in 60 fathoms to help save the day and only caught one grouper and a dozen seabass. Bad day all around.
