550 mile sea trial and fishing trip

Its been over two years since i started building my own custom fishing boat.
Last week was the first time we were able to use it and man were we stoked.

We left ft laud about 530 in the morning headed toward Lucuya to check in.
We got a little more than half way over and found ourselves in a nice flock or birds before the sun even got up. We caught two nice yellow fins and a blackfin and kept going eager to get our fishing permit and immigration papers.

After clearing customs we headed to our first night destination "Sandy Point".
On the way I was playing with my new radar and marked birds the whole way if we got with in a few miles of some we would alter coarse to catch some more fish.
We would pick off a yellowfin or two and keep going.

We pulled up to Sandy point about 630 PM found a nice shallow area to anchor for the night, Shut the Zinn Dog down and sat in the cockpit and drank some beers. I was with some of the guys that helped build the boat and couple of my closest fishing buddys. I was so floored by the whole experience I just kept pinching myself to make sure it was real. this was not a unfamiliar trip for me, I have been running boats through the Bahamas most of my life and have had a house in the Abacos since my childhood. This time was different. This time I was running my own boat. A boat that was just an idea in my head for over 10 years that I was now sitting in having a beer while in one of the nicest places in the world.

The next day I got up at dawn and pinched myself again as we started up and headed to our house in Treasure Cay. Although the Zinn Dogg was on its first fishing excursion my confidence was high I knew every part and piece that was put into this boat and more importantly why it was there. We strolled into Treasure about 4 PM and went down to the marina to look for my first group of anglers to fish her. Over the next 4 days the tuna bite was strong not real big fish but big enough to give a 50 wide a work out. We also got into some nice pairs of mahi.

We raised only one marlin and did not get a hook in him but next time we fish out there Marlin fishing will take priority as the Zinn Dog Will be broken in.
