Better late than never right? Sorry for the late report, I have been tied up with school and work and just haven't had the chance to post up..
Anyway,,,
We made it out last Tuesday for the first bluewater adventure of the year on the Pierless. We had a bit of a late start due to the extream shoaling of Topsail inlet, but we eventually made it out and were greeted with a slick calm ocean! Cruised out at around 30 knots and dropped the lines in on a decent weed-line about 1.5 miles from the spot.. As the boat was coming off plane I started dropping the planer and shotgun baits back. As I grabbed the planer bridle to attach the planer, the captain hollers, Mahi right flat, I looked up and a lit-up bull was charging the yet to be set planer bait... He hit that bait once at full speed before preceeding to atack the still in free spool shotgun bait and destroy it before dissapearing without so much as a scratch.. What a way to start the day right?? After getting the spread deployed we worked that weed-line for a few more minutes to no avail before moving on off towards the break. We worked up and down the break around our numbers for an hour or so with only one decent sized wahoo to show for it.. Time for a new game plan, we headed north a couple miles towards a small fleet of boats that had been working out in a small area for quite some time.. When we got there we found a nice rip on a 78-81 degree temp break with a few weeds.. From there we worked north along the rip fishing both sides and picked away at the gaffer dolphin for a couple of hours.. I was really hoping to find some tuna hiding along that rip, but it was just not to be.. Someone did release a blue marlin a few miles down on that same temp break, but no bills for us on this day.. Pulled the lines in around 3:45 and pointed her towards the hill.. Absolutely BEAutiful ride home on perfectly calm seas..
The boat ran flawlessly and we all had a GREAT time, it was awesome to be out there in the blue water world once again!
Here are a few pics from the trip... Enjoy!

Ohh, most of our strikes came on my red/black weighted ilander w/ballyhoo in the flat line position.. The rest were on a mix of B/W and Pk/Blue up top..
