I got a call from Robert on Thursday, who I met on a makeup charter on the Rigged Up back on April 5. He convinced me to sign up on the makeup charter list again for this weekend since the weather was looking good. We got two spots on the Phideaux and drove down Friday night after the Rangers broke my heart (and did again today.)

We arrived at 4:00AM and slept in the car until 5:00, then checked in. There was more wind than I expected, and the dominant was around 4 seconds. I felt a little uneasy by the time we stopped to fish. After about an hour, I got a small yellowfin, then Robert got a nice one. We had a sailfish swim around, but no strike. We were fishing a nice rip, but we were not seeing much life and I was feeling worse and worse. Around 10am, I started involuntarily chumming, and it must of worked, because we started catching bluefish on the ballyhoo. I kept thinking to myself that only I could get through such a rough day two weeks before then completely fall apart in 3-6 seas. We stopped on a mark to try to catch tilefish, but the current was way too strong. I went to sleep, and when I woke up, we were back in the inlet without any more fish. Oh well, maybe next time. I stopped by to talk to Graham from the Rigged Up, and they had a really good day with big dolphin and a ton of blackfins with some yellowfin mixed in. I am going to try to take my family out with them in October when we go to Nags Head for our timeshare week.

Me with Robert and I's share of the catch
