28 XF Albemarle snap roll?? Any fixes??Cabo FS

Hi guys, I bought a 28 Albe that I really like it except for the very severe rolling in a beam sea both anchored or drifting ( dangerous for my grandkids and fellow senior citizens). How have some of you solved this problem. Do the spray helps? Rocker stopper's help?
Secondly my 1998 45 Cabo, $284k is still for sale and I'm a 2 boat owner now who really needs to sell her. See pic's at

    Tight lines,

    Tailwalker,

I can only assume that you have been around boat's for awhile now, like I have. I am still looking for that "perfect" hull, so far it hasn't happened. I know the folks that own Albermarle, maybe a phone call to them is in order. I'd say they know more about the design than anyone else. Frank

Hi Fred ,I owned a 27 albie and put Smartrails on it from bow to stern.
It made an amazing difference on drift roll, but downside was the bow on that hull dives pretty deep into head sea and the rail made it pound quite a bit.
I ended up removing about 1/3 to 1/2 of rail of bow end,the rail on the stern helped the roll and gave some lift, not as much help on the roll as full length but still not bad.
Now only bad side to that was if I was running on Tower in certain seas the stern rail would grab and make it a balancing act not to lean way over.
Hope this helps some and quit teasing me with that 45 of yours

Frank, I talked to Donna 1st at Albemarle .When I asked if she could supply me with customers that have added them so I could ask them the results she referred me to the forums?!! If they worked well I would think Albemarle would be happy to pass on the happy customers.
Anyway, here I am asking! I have had 24 degree deadrise on a Ray Hunt 1971 Bertram BUT it had a wide beam and it did not have the snap roll of this boat. I bought the Albe because of the heavy construction and rough sea's capabilities never dreaming it would roll so severely. I do not feel safe for my crew and self on this boat the way it is so it comes down to fixing it or selling it.
    Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Mark, Some testimonials is what I'm looking for. Albe recommends the Taco spray rails so I need to research the Smartrails. Thanks for the feedback!
You ought to buy my 45 Cabo before it's gone because she has been very taken care of over the years and performs as well as she did brand new!! There are no other 45's priced in the 200k's!

Fred - Great riding boats but a lot of deadrise on 9ft beam....but a great riding/trolling boat for a 28 footer! I dont think there is anything you can do to "fix" it really. Its that same ole choice we all have to make with boats under 40ft. Hard to find a boat under 40ft to troll and/or bottom fish COMFORTABLY on. There are always compromises...just have to figure out which way to lean towards and go with it.

BTW - yes, I have a 32 Albe for sale. and yes I wished your Cabo was a bridge boat.

Hope you all are doing well!

I run a 27 Albe for about 10 years. Inboard w/ tower, same hull as what they now call 28. Nice boat on the run, lousy on the drift. When we drifted for sharks we had to tie the coolers down so they wouldnt punch a hole on the sides. Not much you can do for the roll but you can run it through almost anything at 20 kts.
