I was actually more pissed about breaking my record of a $30 tip. They came back and gave me another $5 spot for doing a good job which pushed it to $31. It was an all day bay trip trolling and live baiting for rock, blues and spanish. I'm not complaining, just thought it was pretty funny.

I CAN'T HELP BUT CHUCKLE ON THIS SUBJECT.....AND I GUESS I SHOULDN'T CHUCKLE TOO LOUD.....I HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH GOOD TIPPERS ON MY CHARTERS AS A WHOLE......BUT I DO WORK MY ASS OFF FOR THEM....AND HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO GO WAY BEYOND THE NORM TO PLEASE CLIENTS....

I HATE YOU DID NOT OFFICIALLY BREAK YOUR RECORD....BUT 31 BUCKS? GEEZUS.....THATS ALOT COMPARED TO MY RECORD....

I THINK THAT I HOLD THE OFFSHORE RECORD FOR THE WORST EFFORT BY A CHARTER AS FAR AS TIP AND I THINK I COULD ALSO SAY I HAVE HAD THE BEST TIP IN THE WORLD!!!

THE WORST: 300-400 POUNDS OF YFT.....2 WAHOO...2 KINGS...30-40 BAILERS AND A SAILDOG

TIP:............."AS THE "JUNEBUG" SLID BACK INTO IT'S BERTH, I NOTICED THE PARTY WAS STANDING READY TO DISMOUNT THE PIT.....I MEAN PERSONAL GEAR IN HAND FOR QUICK DEPARTURE....COOLERS WERE READY TO TO PASS TO THE DOCK....AND ONE GUY ALREADY HAD THE FISHBOX LID OPEN WITH MY GLOVES ON....HELL I HADN'T SECURED THE SPRING LINES YET AND IT WAS CLEAR THESE 4 HIWAY PATROLMEN WERE GETTING THE HELL OUT OF DODGE FAST.....

THEY BEGAN THEIR FISH TOSS WITHOUT EVEN WETTING THE DOCK DOWN.....ONE GUY WAS STACKING MAHIS IN A CART WHILE ANOTHER WAS DRAGGING TUNAS DOWN THE DOCK AND INTO THEIR TRUCK BED

IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES.....I WAS ON A GHOSTSHIP......NO REMNANTS OF THE DAYS CHARTER BUT A NASTY ASS TOILET BOWL , A TRASH CAN FULL OF BEER CANS AND BOTTLES.... AND BITS OF FOOD SCATTERED ALL OVER THE SALONS COUNTER TOPS AND CARPETING

THE CAPTAIN CAME OVER TO MNE AND SAID" DID THEY TAKE CARE OF YOU"

NOPE.

THEN....ONE OF THE NC HIWAY PATROLMEN STARTED SIGNALLING ME TO THE PARKING LOT.

OH....MAYBE THERE IS A TIP GOD AFTERALL I THOUGHT

"SEE, THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF YOU! " THE CAPTAIN QUIETLY UTTERED TO ME.

I THEN HUSTLED MY WEARY BONES 100 YARDS OUT TO THE NEW DODGE TRUCK STOPPING QUICKLY AT A NEARBY FAUCET TO RINSE THE BLOOD OFF FOR THE HAND SHAKING CEREMONY ....THE PATROLMEN ALL GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND BEGAN SHAKING MY HAND WITH MUCHO THANKS FOR A GREAT DAY. THEY ALL FOUR WERE BEAMING WITH PRIDE AND FOR A SECOND, I THOUGHT I SMELLED A STACK OF DEAD PRESIDENTS.....

"MARTY, WE WANT YOU AND THE CAPTAIN TO HAVE THESE. YOU EARNED IT BRO !.....YOU DESERVE IT" SAID THE GROUPS SPOKESPERSON

MY HEART WAS RACING.....I THOUGHT SHIT...I CAN MAKE MY TRUCK PAYMENT NOW!! HALELUJAH!

HE PUT HIS HAND OUT AND PROUDLY PASSED ME A KEYCHAIN THAT SAID "DRIVE 55...OBEY THE LAW!" ....AND THEN HANDED ME THE GRAND PRIZE AND I WAS TOLD TO GIVE THIS GREEN BEER HUGGEE TO MY CAPTAIN.....IT SAID CLICK IT OR TICKET.........

I WAS SPEECHLESS............LITERALLY

I can't believe here I sit on Oct. 2nd and I've only climbed a tree once so far.

Gonna go for a double header tonight. It's been down in the 50's at night so I'll have some more time to get em cut up.

AND....My helmet camera DVR should be here this afternoon. I hope the big brown truck makes it down the driveway before it's hunting time.

I'm over this crap....... I think you could hang a blinking neon sign in front of them and still not get a decent tip. I now include this in my morning speech before we head out and Its 20% plus as I look each one of them in the eye. Seems to work!!
Had a mate one time that got a three dollar tip. He jumped off the boat and holllered at the guy as loud as he could to take the money back because he surely needed it worse that he did. The mans face turned red in embarassment as he walked off to the parking lot. That was at the Oregon Inlet fishing center.

my sentiments exactly fishskipper!! I would have to say the same thing - they obviously need it more than I do if the will only give ya a couple bucks after the work the mates do!!

I have tried to be sure and cover it with the party before they ever get on the boat - make sure you tip the mate!!! Have not had one stiff him yet on my boat but have sure seen it happen other places - and it surely sux!!

Box - man, have a feeling they might would have had to keep them huggers and keychains if it were me - but then again I didn't used to be such a nice guy as I am now!!
