Headed out of NRI about 630 with two other guys from Bragg and a Marine from Lejeune looking to get after the BSB. First ledge was about 18 miles out with 47 degree water. Nothing on the scope and nothing on a couple of drops. Repeated this a few more times, moving a bit further out each time.
Ended up hitting a real nice temp break about 23 miles. Unfortunately, I didn't know of any spots close so I headed out to some ledges about 28 miles out. Water temp was about 57 and we spent the rest of the day catching 11-15 inchers for the rest of the day. Ended up with 25 keepers, 2 grunts and a nice flounder we lost at the boat.
Also saw the biggest herd of dolphins I've ever seen. Had to be at least 50-60 in the flock! Don't know what they were doing but they seemed to be having a good time. Had a sunfish come up to the boat in the afternoon too. That was pretty cool, first time I've seen one.
Beautiful day on the water!! Just know the BSB are out there a ways and all of ours were caught on sting silvers in about 100ft of water.
