well...My wide load permit hasn't come in yet for my fatA$$ wide beam 10'6 beam southport so we decided to make the run out of Rudee Inlet to the water that was at the 650 line the night before...well the water had moved way south and out by the time we got there which made the run about 105NM each way.....found a fantastic RIP with well defined break and weeds and fished this for a while pulling a few peanuts out of the weeds. Saw some porpoise a little off the break so we fished them for a couple hours and pulled a 17# bull out of them..the cow was right next to him but would eat nothing we threw at her.....NO Tuna for us today but it was our first trip of the year...great way to get ready for the season with a 270 mile round trip jaunt...run was about 3hours each way but pretty bouncy on the way out...
on a sad note, a good friend of ours had a Heart attack on a boat out of Teaches yesterday while pulling on a Blackfin Tuna....crew did all they could to revive him but apparently he went very quickly and could not be revived. Just goes to show you have to be prepared for anything while out in the blue...
Here's a shot of the Mahi..nothing spectacular but dam it was good on the grill last night !....Bob
......SORRY TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF YOUR FRIEND .....HE OBVIOUSLY WENT DOING WHAT HE LOVES TO DO........
ASIDE FROM THE SADNESS FOR THE FAMILY, AS ROD STEWART ONCE SANG: "EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY"....YOUR PICTURE TELLS A STORY AS WELL.......ALL SMILES ....A VERY HONEST REPORT YET SUPER INFORMATIVE OF WATER CONDITIONS ON THE DMZ FENCE....
NO ONE CAN EVER SAY YOU'RE SKEERED TO PULL UP TO A BARREL OF OPEC CRUDE AND PUNCH A HOLE IN IT !!!! THATS FOR SURE!
IT'S ONLY 80 MILES ROUND TRIP DOWN MY WAY PLUS TROLLING SPEED....WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN THE RUNS WE HAVE .........
Yhea, we were actually listening to all the radio chatter. We were a good 30 miles from them when the request for assistance came out. It seemed to me like it took forever to get them and CG together. We were talking about it yesterday, wondering why they did not call the bird in. Really sorry to know they passed away. Sounds like he was already gone before the help was probably even requested. Fair seas and calm winds to your friend.
Bob, your friend had some prayers with him as soon as I heard that on the radio yesterday. Those prayers will now be for peace and comfort to all those that knew and loved him.
BTW, ya'll had a better day then we did!!! Worked our tails off with very little to show for it. Better days are coming!!!!!
I sent a couple of people your way...brian Steadman and neal Klar...they should be contacting you soon if not already....
Thanks for the words on Jack. He was a great guy, loved fishing and just put a smile on your face whenever he was around. As everybody said, he died doing what he loved that's for sure.....
Looking forward to putting a hurting on some YFT....it's gotta be soon !.....Bob
