    1/3 Bottom Bouncing

Headed out this morning for some bottom bouncing, left the ramp at 0600. First stop 30 miles out, water temp 62-63 a little over 100 feet deep. Over all tried 5-6 spots over the course of the day.
First stop had a short Red Grouper unfortunately that was the only Grouper of the day. Pretty steady bites mostly Black Sea Bass, on the second to last spot my son caught his first Red Snapper and our first for the day, followed shortly by 3 more caught by my fishing partner, who also caught 4-5 shark and big ol Ray.

I jigged all day and was the weak link today with only a hand full of Sea Bass.

Another nice day on the water with the final count 4 Red Snapper, 1 Trigger, 15 Black sea bass, and a lot of fun.

The snapper seemed to have a fondness to frozen cigar minnows.

    Things I learned.
I need to work on my anchoring skills which are at best average (as far as putting the boat exactly where I want it). What I learned was is very, very, hard when someone at my skill level tries to anchor on a piece of structure when the current was going one direction pretty hard and the wind almost the opposite direction.
Don’t in the excitement of your son’s first Red Snapper reach down to lip it (I forgot what nice teeth they have) they put some really nice puncture wounds in the good old thumb.

Thanks for the nice report and pictures Ponce. Very good fishing! Snapper and sea bass are hard to beat, even by grouper!
    Congratulations to the Jr angler!

PS anchoring was tough for everyone yesterday.

My shark ID is bad. Can someone ID that shark? I had some other pics that didn't come out real well, with him showing a mouth full of chompers.

Zack - we were out past 210.

The next bite on a jig.
Next time, hopefully I will be free to ride along. I can't promise we will anchor, or that I can be of any help with that, but I'm looking forward to it.

    Great job on the Snappa's
