1/2 day bottom fishing trip 4/2/10...

Had the same group from yesterday for a 1/2 day of bottom fishing today. After a long day of jigging offshore yesterday, they wanted to play with the lighter tackle today and go for some BSB's. We caught plenty of those plus a few other surprises. We ended up keeping 40 big bass which we let go many many more legal fish. If there was any doubt...it went back to see another day. We also caught a decent amount of pinkies and beeliners. The surprise fo the day was that we caught a few bonitos while drifting. There were plenty of them out there and they're getting closer to shore everyday. If we had the trolling gear for them, we could've mopped them up, but we got what we needed and were back early. Left the dock at 6:00 and back by 12:30. Not a bad day at all and they have all the meat they need for a while.

those Atlantic bonito are a blast on light tackle and eat pretty fine too. Looks like a great day on the water
