QUAGGA REMINDER: NDOW is asking boaters to take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of quagga mussels from the Colorado River system to other waters. Thoroughly clean, drain and dry your boat, trailer and towing vessel before traveling to another water.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Trout fishing has been fair to good off the dock and dam while using PowerBait and worms. Tiger trout are being caught near the upper end of the reservoir with worms.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Fishing is fair to good at Echo. Rainbow trout are biting on PowerBait and flies. Bass can be found near the shoreline and vegetation in the water. Crappie fishing has been good right off the dam.

LAKE MEAD

Stripers are biting all over the Vegas Wash Arm. Look for birds and watch boaters to find boiling stripers or shad. Top-water lures are fun when fish are boiling but cut-anchovies are the ticket when fish aren’t on top. Catfish are biting on anchovies and stink baits. Best action has been in the morning or evening hours.

LAKE MOHAVE

Striper fishing has been good on the Colorado River below Hoover Dam. Anglers have reportedly caught several fish weighing from 12 to 31pounds. A.C. Plugs and SPROs are landing the lunkers. Good action for rainbow trout continues at Willow Beach. Striper fishing at Cottonwood Cove has been fair to slow. Anglers are seeing lots of fingerling stripers but can’t seem to find their larger relatives. Catfish has been good with cut anchovies, shrimp and stink baits fished off the bottom near coves. Bass fishing has been fair using top-water lures and subsurface plastics. A lucky angler caught a 16-inch 3-pound bluegill below Davis Dam.

Here are some of the successful anglers from Lake Mojave. From left to right: Bruce Silat with a 42-inch, 41.46 pound striper, Gavin holds up the fish he pulled in at Willow Beach.

LAUGHLIN

Anglers reported good fishing for large rainbows along the Colorado River below Davis Dam. Popular techniques have been using small lures or PowerBait from either boat or shore.

PAHRANAGAT WILDLIFE REFUGE

Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Anglers report good bass fishing at Cold Springs Reservoir with top-water and shallow diving lures. Fishing was good to fair at Haymeadow and Adams McGill reservoirs as well. Trout action is beginning to pick up with more anglers putting fish in their creel.

URBAN PONDS

Fishing has been fair at all the ponds. Anglers are catching bluegill and other panfish at Floyd Lamb, Sunset Park and Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. The recent catfish plant should improve fishing for whisker fish. Worms, shrimp and stink baits are all good techniques.
