Greers Ferry

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 479.75 feet MSL (Normal conservation pool - 461 MSL).

Tommy Cauley of Fish Finder Guide Service said the water is 14.7 feet above normal pool and falling. Hybrid and white bass are good on in-line spinners, jigging spoons and topwater lures early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The walleye bite is picking up. The bream are excellent on crickets and Catalpa worms in shallow water. Catfish are good on soap. Jolly Roger’s Marina said black bass are good on spinnerbaits, jigs and plastic worms 15 feet deep. Kentucky bass are excellent on jig-heads and grub worms in secondary coves from 10 to 15 feet deep. White bass are good at the east end of the lake from North Shore east to the restricted area. Trolling with jigs and Rogues at 20 feet deep works well. Crappie are excellent from 15 to 20 feet deep on the edges of the channels using small jigs, colored grubs and small minnows. Bream are excellent on crickets 10 feet deep in the channels with some movement to shallower water. Catfishing is good on cut shad and prepared bait. Arkansas River at Morrilton

Charley’s Hidden Harbor in Oppelo said the low flows and clearing water has made river fishing more like lake fishing. Catfish are good on live shad from 3 to 5 feet deep. Fish upstream of jetties in low flow and downstream of jetties when flow is above 15000 cubic feet per second. Black bass are good on buzzbaits in grass. Kentucky bass are good on jetty tops early in the morning. White bass are chasing shad schools late in the afternoon; use Hawg Traps in pearl or white. Stripers are good on live shad and bream below the dam early in the morning. Bream are good on crickets in Petit Jean River. Drum are excellent on crawfish-colored Fat Raps fished on jetty tops in late afternoon.

Arkansas River (Maumelle Pool)

Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop (501-758-4958) said that both Little Maumelle River and Maumelle River (Big Maumelle Creek) have the same report. Bream are excellent on wax worms and crickets in pad beds. Crappie are poor. Bass are good on spinnerbaits, 1 ½-inch KVD crankbaits in chartreuse with a black back, buzzbaits and Gilmore Jumpers early in the morning and late in the evening. White River

Sportsman’s White River Resort (870-453-2424) said the water low in the morning. Fishing is excellent until about noon. Try pink worms, real worms and jigs.

Randy Oliver at www.randyoliverguide.com (901-832-1903) had no report because of flooding.

Guide Davy Wotton said flow is low early and then higher with generation during the day. Dry flies, such as Rock Hoppers and stimulators work well early for slower water. Dead-drift nymph fishing with GRHE, white tail and prism midges in black, red and copper, scuds and sowbugs work well in medium flow. In high water, try San Juan, Dynamite and prism worms coupled with eggs or larger nymph patterns on dropper rigs. Streamers and larger floating bugs work well from dusk until dark. Whitlock surface frog patterns and large black/red throat muddlers are also producing.

Jim Brentlinger at Linger’s Guide Service and Fishing Lodge (870-499-5185) said trout are fair on Power Bait and worms fished on the bottom.

Buffalo River

Just Fishing Guides said the river is very low. Bottom-bouncing tubes, lizards and Brush Hawgs in watermelon and green pumpkin colors work well. Fly fishermen should try Crazy Dads, Near Nuff Crawdad, Near Nuff Sculpin, Clouser Minnow and Shenks White Streamer on both floating and sink-tip lines.

Crooked Creek

Just Fishing Guides said Kelly’s Access is at 9.66 feet and flow is 4.8 cubic feet per second. This is very low for floating. Clousers, Zonkers, Near Nuff Sculpins and Sneaky Petes are all working well for fly fishermen. Spin fisherman are doing well with tubes, lizards and Baby Brush Hawgs in watermelon and green pumpkin. Crawdad crankbaits and Tiny Torpedoes are also producing.

Bull Shoals Lake

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 693.25 feet MSL (Normal conservation pool - 654 MSL).

Mike Worley’s Guide Service said the walleye are good on crankbaits, crawler rigs on bottom-bouncers and jigging spoons fished 20 feet deep over flooded brush. Bream are fair on crawler rigs during the middle of day and afternoon.

Bull Shoals Tailwater

Just Fishing Guides said the water level is 686.7 feet with generation during the day. Flow is above 19000 cubic feet per second during the day. Fishing has been excellent using scuds, sowbugs, micro-caddis, sulphur nymphs and midge patterns for trout.

Lake Norfork

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 578.49 feet MSL (Normal conservation pool: Sept.-April - 552 MSL, April-Sept. - 554 MSL).

Hummingbird Hideaway Resort said stripers and hybrids are suspended from 10 to 25 feet deep. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are surfacing early off of points that have trees in the water. Live bait works best for black bass. Bream and crappie are good on crickets and worms with a split shot around trees. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait.

STR Outfitters said the stripers are good on live bream, swimbaits and jigging spoons from 50 to 70 feet deep off of points near the dam.

Guide Steve Olomon said the lake level is 573 feet and surface temperature is in the mid-80s. Bass are chasing baitfish on points and flats early in the morning and just before the sun goes down. Try Zara Spooks in clear and white, Pop-R’s and Bass Assassins in white with a blue or black back and silver fleck. Look for surface activity around the outside of flooded brush. High-water nymphing with large indicators and split-shot and streamers using sink-tips and full sinking lines are working well. There is also some hopper action along the banks.

Northwest Arkansas
Beaver Lake

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 1,129.11 feet MSL (Normal conservation pool - 1,120 MSL).

Bailey’s Beaver Lake Guide Service (479-366-8664) said fish early because surface temperatures are high. Stripers are good on live shad fished on down lines and down riggers with Rapalas from 20 to 60 feet deep. The fish are transitioning to deeper areas. On the mid- and lower sections, check out Point 1 (The island is still holding some fish, but most are going deeper with the rising temperatures.), Indian creek (Good fishing.), Lost Bridge South (Try the island at Starky and the humps from the island to the park.), Lost Bridge North (Excellent fishing.), Big Clifty arm (Good fishing.), Point 3 (Hot spot.) and Point 5 (Hot spot.). Most walleye are about 10 to 20 feet deep near Point 5, Point 3 and Point 1. Flat line troll over shallow bars with Rapala Tail Dancers, Shad Raps, Reef Runners, or Ripstiks in natural blue or black back combos. Jigging spoons around brush and rock piles are also producing. Put your Dipsy Divers to work above the thermocline with a Rapala in tow.

JT’s Crappie Guide Service (479-640-3980) said bass are good on Texas-rigged 6- to 8-inch lizards and black/blue hula grub worms at night along sloping banks near Prairie Creek, Indian Cree, Rambo and Monte-Ne areas. Crappie are good on minnows from 8 to 30 feet deep in shaded areas near Monte-Ne, Blue Springs, Prairie Creek and Horseshoe Bend. White bass are good on dark curly-tail grub worms and minnows from 5 to 25 feet deep on near bluff lines close to the main river channel near Eden Bluff, Rocky Branch, Point 12 and Point 5. Catfish are good on chicken liver and nightcrawlers fished from the bank at night.

Southtown Sporting Goods (479-443-7148) said the water is high. Fishing is best at night. Crappie are fair. Bass are fair on spinnerbaits, topwater lures and soft plastic worms. Catfish are good on limb lines and trotlines baited with live bait in shallow water.

Beaver Tailwater

Just Fishing Guides said the water level is 1126.2 feet with evening generation. Scuds, sowbugs and zebra midges fished from 5 to 7 feet below an indicator work well. Fishing streamers on sink-tips and full sinking lines are also working. Zonkers, Wooly Buggers and Slump Busters in olive, black and white are good patterns to use.

War Eagle Creek

Loy Lewis from War Eagle Canoe (479-530-3262) said the water is clear and floatable from Withrow Springs state park to War Eagle Mills. Largemouth bass are good on topwater lures and black buzzbaits. Smallmouth bass are good on small jigging spoons and spinnerbaits in the current. Catfishing is good on stinkbait and bream at night.

Kings River

Just Fishing Guides said the river level is at 2.7 feet and flow is 75 cubic feet per second. Clousers, Near Nuff Sculpins, Pop-Rs, sliders and Shenks Streamer are all working well for fly fishermen. Spin fisherman are doing well with crawdad crankbaits, Tiny Torpedoes, tubes, lizards and Baby Brush Hawgs.

Lake Fayetteville

Cane Creek Lake

Cane Creek State Park said bream are good on crickets early in the morning around lily pads. Bass are fair around the stumps out from the boat ramp area. Catfish are poor.

Lake Monticello

Fishing guide Greg Gulledge (870-723-3928) of MonticelloBigBass.com said bass are good on topwater lures, Senkos, Flukes and beaver baits. Try worms, jigs and crankbaits for deeper bass. Drop-shotting and balloon fishing with shiners works well.

Southwest Arkansas
Millwood Lake

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation was not available. (Normal conservation pool – 259.2 MSL).

Mike Siefert at Millwood Lake Guide Service said the lake level is 255.8 feet and slowly falling. Discharge is 2,691 cubic feet per second with 13 gates open at 2 feet each. Surface temperature ranges from 85 to 91 degrees. Visibility ranges from 12 to 15 inches. The oxbow’s clarity ranges from 3 to 5 feet. Water quality is improving because of reduced current and normal weather patterns. Clarity can change dramatically in just a few hours with high winds. The largemouth bass bite is best early in the morning and late in the evening. Large bass have pulled out to slightly deeper water where the creek channels intersect and dump into the river and are biting well on worms, War Eagle Spinnerbaits, Bomber Crankbaits, frogs, buzzbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Southern Pro Magnum tubes in black with a blue tail or pumpkinseed with a chartreuse tail work well near vegetation, laydowns and stumps. Firetiger War Eagle spinnerbaits are working well for stained water and spot remover colors work best in clearer water; Rat-L-Traps in Spring Bream, Tennessee Shad and Smokey Joe seem to draw the best reactions from bass. Also, 10-inch Yum Worms in Peanut Butter ’N Jelly, plum or black and Bomber Crankbaits in Tennessee Shad, Citrus Shad and Foxy Shad are working well. The frog bite is improving as lily pads bloom. The clearest water holding these new pad growths are the best spots to work your top-water frogs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Any pad stand with creek channels swinging near and/or into the pads are high target areas. Use Bass Assassins, Salty Rat Tails and Rat-L-Traps in these areas. White and Kentucky bass are excellent on Rat-L-Traps and Bomber Crankbaits in oxbows up Little River. Crappie are good on Southern Pro tubes or hair jigs in white or smoke and small Rocket Shads and Blakemore Roadrunners in deep brush piles. Also, try Cordell smoke grub worms on a light lead-head jig. Catfishing is fair to good on trotlines, yo-yos, jugs and tight lines. Blue and channel catfish are biting well on chicken liver, Catfish Charlie and Catalpa worms in 14 to 20 feet of Little River on outer break lines in current. Yo-yos baited with blood bait from 10 to 15 feet deep are also producing.

Lake Columbia

Steve’s Outdoor Sports (870-234-2222) said the water is low. Bream are good on worms and crickets. Crappie are fair. Bass are good on Rogues and spinnerbaits. Catfishing is good with jugs.

Lake Erling

DeGray Lake

As of Tuesday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation was 413.6 feet MSL (Flood pool - 408 MSL).

Local angler George Graves said the lake is clear and surface temperatures are in the high 80s. Bass are good on jerkbaits, Lucky Craft Sammys and 3-inch swimbaits off of main lake points early in the morning. Try a Texas- or Carolina-rigged worm or jig with a Green Pumpkin plastic critter trailer later in the morning from 10 to 20 feet deep in the Brushy Creek area. Shad-colored spinnerbaits work well around standing timber and exposed attractors. Crappie are poor on a 1/16-ounce jig-head with a Tennessee shad grub worm or tube in brush piles from 20 to 25 feet deep early in the morning between Edgewood and Shrouse Ford areas. White bass and hybrids are good on in-line spinners, Rooster Tails and swimbaits in the mouths of big coves along the south side of the state park, between Point 4 and Point 6 on the south side of the lake, off of Point 10 and Ozan Point, as well as Brushy Creek. Try fishing between Point 2 and Point 6 in the evening. Bream are good on worms and crickets from 5 to 8 feet deep in most any cove. Catfish are fair on trotlines and noodles baited with bream and minnows for blue and flathead catfish; try nightcrawlers, chicken liver and stinkbait for channel catfish. Best fishing is around Point 10 and between Ozan Point and Island 34.

West-Central Arkansas

Trader Bill’s Outdoor Sports said the water temperature is in the 80s. The lake level is high but falling fast. Bass are being caught on Texas-rigged soft plastics and jigs in brush. Mountain Harbor Resort said the lake is clear and surface temperature ranges from 82 to 88 degrees. Largemouth bass are excellent on Texas-rigged worms and jig-head worms; watermelon seed, green pumpkin and watermelon candy are the best colors. Kentucky bass are good on drop-shot rigs with a nightcrawler. Walleye and stripers are excellent on fluorescent jigs, deep-diving crankbaits and spoons fished 25 to 35 feet deep around brush. Bream are excellent on crickets and worms from18 to 25 feet deep near brush. Crappie are good on minnows and grub worms in Tennessee Shad, Albino Shad and Rainbow Trout colors near and over brush. Lake Hamilton

Trader Bill’s Outdoor Sports said the water temperature is in the 80s. The lake is full and the summer boat traffic is here. Bass are being caught in brush piles on soft plastics, and in the guts of the pockets on a Carolina rig. Also, try a topwater bait at the mouth of creeks and points. Lake Catherine

Shane Goodner, owner of Catch’em All Guide Service, said the tailrace is clear and surface temperature below Carpenter Dam is 59 degrees. Rainbow trout are excellent on green and orange Power Bait and wax worms and meal worms with a marshmallow fished just off the bottom. Live bait presentations are working best so try a nightcrawler cut in half or a minnow in deeper water. Spin fishermen casting small gray or white jigs are successful. White bass are good on jigs, jerkbaits and small spinnerbaits in yellow or white below the dam during generation. Stripers are active below the bridge in the main channel in the evening. C-10 Redfins and Super Spooks from 5- to 7-inches work well, also.

Rick Sawyer at Dozhier’s Rainbow Landing (501-262-2825) said fishing is good below Carpenter Dam. Catfish are biting nightcrawlers. White bass are hitting minnows. Crappie are being taken above the dam on minnows. Bream are hitting on crickets. (Last updated on May 25, 2011)

Moro Bay

Moro Bay State Park at the junction of the Ouachita River, Raymond Lake and Moro Bay had no report.

Ouachita River Oxbows

Jaret Rushing said bass are good on soft plastic baits around fallen tops in shallow areas. Topwater frogs produce until about 8 a.m. Crappie are fair on light-colored jigs in the middle of the lake from 5 to 6 feet deep. (Last updated on June 22, 2011)

Bear Creek Lake

Mississippi River State Park said the water is clear and at normal level. Bream are good on black beetles. Crappie are fair on jigs. Catfish are fair on stinkbait.

Mississippi River State Park said the water is stained. Bream are fair on crickets. Bass are fair on soft plastic baits. Catfish are fair on chicken liver.

Arkansas River at Pine Bluff

Maddox Bay
