Capt. Art Conway of Conway's River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the low 50's in the lower lake and in the low to mid 50’s up some of the creeks on Wednesday. The lake level was a few inches above the top of the dam and the water was stained but not muddy. A few scattered crappie were still around the main lake channels and some catfish were in the deep holes. A few crappie and some nice pickerel and bass were in the major creeks. Wright Bait Co. two inch curly tail grubs, suspending jerk baits, and live minnows have been the most effective baits. Fishing with Capt. Conway, Hollis Pruitt and Malcolm Turnbull had 9 pickerel, 2 crappie, and 1 bass.
