Lake Chickahominy report 3-24
Capt. Art Conway of Conway's River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the high 50's to low 60’s in the upper and lower lake and slightly higher up some of the creeks on Wednesday. The lake level was about 6 inches above the top of the dam and the water was stained but not muddy. A few nice yellow perch were scattered on the mid-depth flats in the main lake and the major creeks. Numerous crappie and a few nice pickerel and bass were in the major creeks. Most of the crappie were still in the creek channels, but a few had started to accumulate in spawning areas. Wright Bait Co. two inch curly tail grubs, tubes, stingers, marabou crappie jigs, suspending jerk baits, and live minnows have been the most effective baits.
