I have caught many tarpon in the freshwater canals down in south florida. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there that does the same? I also catch snook and plenty of largemouth and peacock bass. looking to see if anyone can shed some light on different techniques to landing some of these guys. I have put up photos already, http://www.sportfishermen.com/board/...s-68039-2.html, check them out. I'll throw two up on here as well, why the hell not! Hope to hear from ya'll!!
Don't know much about Fl. canals, but have caught a lot of snook in Puerto Rico in small canals. Found that a double jig rig like you would use for redfish or trout worked good. Color didn't seem to be important. Same rig worked in the early 60s off Bob Hall Pier, Padre Island, Tx. (still had snook there, then). Live shrimp also worked good. Most lady tarpon (under 3 foot) I've caught were believe it or not on the same kind of rig. The larger ones were on live medium sized mullet. Don't know if this was of any help. All I can say, catch a bunch! Fair winds and following seas always. Capt. Bill
