Northwest

Animas River - The flow is 440 cfs. Caddis hatches are going on and fishing is picking up. Caddis pupa, Hare’s Ear nymphs and pheasant tail nymphs are working well. 443 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Chama River - Upper section flow is at 75 cfs. There is no fishing report. 741 rainbow trout were stocked above El Vado last week. Below El Vado Dam, the flow is 699 cfs and the water is green and murky. Fishing is fair to good for 17-21 inch browns on orange streamers, night crawlers or Rapalas. Stocker size rainbows are reported as fair with salmon eggs or Power Bait. 370 rainbows were stocked below El Vado last week.
San Juan River - Upper section-Catch and Release, flow is 889 cfs and visibility is 2-3 feet. Fishing is good with San Juan worms, pink or chartreuse egg patterns, olive zebra midges, gray foam wing emergers and gray bead head RS2’s. Dry fly action is good with Parachute Adams, black ants or dead chickens. Lower section – Open waters, fishing is slow to fair for rainbows and browns with salmon eggs, worms and the same flies as for the upper section. The caddis hatch is still going on and elk hair caddis or buckskin double bead caddis nymphs are successful. 2,872 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Abiquiu Lake - Fishing is slow from shore, but fair to good from boats. Walleye are fair to good with spinners, minnows and worms, and several over 5 pounds have been reported. Bass are good with spinners or crank baits and blue gills are good on worms. No reports on other species.
El Vado Lake – No report.
Heron Lake– The larger kokanee are schooling and trolling spinners at 17-24 feet is picking up 12 to 16-inch salmon. Many limits have been reported. Trout are fair from the bank with salmon eggs or Power Bait.
Jackson Lake - Trout are reported as fair to good with spinners or Power Bait.
Lake Farmington – Trout are fair to good with spinners or Power Bait.
Morgan Lake – Bass are slow.
Navajo Lake – Pike are good with spinners, crank baits and jerk baits. Smallmouth bass are good with jigs, tubes, and soft baits. Largemouth bass are reported as fair with jerk baits and tubes. Crappie fishing has slowed. Kokanee are starting to pick up and reports are fair tolling Z-rays at 30 feet around La Jara and the dam. No reports on other species.

Northeast

Cimarron River - The flows are 34 cfs below Eagle Nest Dam and 35 cfs near Cimarron. The entire river is very good for trout. Fly fishermen are reporting catches with stimulators, Parachute Adams, Goddard caddis, elk hair caddis, midges and bead head midges. Browns are also hitting on Pistol Petes or Panther Martin’s. Stocker size rainbows can be caught on salmon eggs or worms. 1,795 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Costilla Creek – The flows are 84 cfs below the dam and 100 cfs near the town of Costilla. The Valle Vidal opens July 1 and the fishing should be good. Try golden stones, Copper Johns, small grasshoppers or ants.
Red River - Flows at Questa are 84 cfs, and 114 cfs below the hatchery. The water has cleared and fishing has improved. Dry droppers with Copper Johns or caddis nymphs are good in the slower waters. Dry fly action is good with yellow stimulators, #20 Parachute Adams and Goddard caddis. 1,333 rainbows were stocked above Questa last week.
Rio Grande - Flows are 422 cfs at Taos Junction Bridge and 176 cfs near Cerro. Browns and rainbows are reported as good with stonefly nymphs or #6-8 Poundmeisters. Caddis patterns are good in the late evenings. Pike are fair using big streamers.
Rio Hondo – Trout are good in the lower Hondo with caddis nymphs. The upper Hondo is good with #14 Royal Wulff and Parachute Adams.
Rio Pueblo - Flow is 16 cfs. The water is low and fishing is slow. 889 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Cabresto Lake – No report.
Charette Lakes – Fishing is sporadic. On a good day, limits of 14-20 inch rainbows are being caught on Pistol Petes, Power Bait or worms. No reports on perch.
Clayton Lake – Trout are good from the shore with worms or Power Bait and many limits have been reported. Bass are generally slow with an occasional report of one being caught while fishing for trout. Walleye are slow with night crawlers working best. Catfish are fair using chicken liver or stink bait.
Eagle Nest Lake – Trout are good trolling Panther Martins, Pistol Petes or Platte River Specials. Trout are fair from shore, fishing 3-4 feet off the bottom with Power Bait. Kokanee are reported as good trolling double whammies tipped with corn, or Panther Martin’s. Perch are good with worms.
Lake Alice and Lake Maloya– Fishing is reported as good at both lakes for stocker size rainbows using spinners, spoons, Pistol Pete’ s, Power Bait, or salmon eggs.
Maxwell Lakes – Fishing has slowed, but an occasional 18-20 inch rainbow has been caught on Power Bait. Catfish are good with cut bait. No reports on other species.
Santa Cruz Lake – Trout are fair from the bank and trolling with Pistol Petes, worms and Power Bait working best.
Shuree Ponds – The Valle Vidal will open July 1.
Springer Lakes – Catfish are fair with cut bait. Pike, up to 26 inches, are fair with Rat-l-traps and Mepps spinners. Bass are slow.

West-Central, including the Jemez Mountains

Jemez River, East Fork, Guadalupe and San Antonio - Flow on the Jemez River is at 22 cfs. The streams are low and fishing is fair to good. Dry flies that are working well are yellow stimulators, black ants and hopper patterns. Panther Martins, Power Bait of worms may also pick up some trout. Last week, 741 rainbows were stocked in the Jemez, and 556 in the San Antonio.
Metro Drainages - No report this week.
Bluewater Lake – There has been light pressure and fishing is slow for all species.
Cochiti Lake – The water is clearing and visibility is 5-6 feet. There has been moderate pressure and best fishing has been from boats. Walleye are good with Rapalas and spinners. Pike, in the 25-30 inch range, are good with large Rapalas. Bass are reported as fair to good using crank baits. Catfish are good off the dam with liver and worms. Crappie are slow.
Fenton Lake – Fishing is fair for 9-16 inch rainbows. There is an algae bloom, so brightly colored Power Bait is working best. Fly fishermen are having some success with white moth patterns.
Tingley Beach - South Pond catch and release - Trout are poor with white leeches working best in the early mornings. Central and Children’s Ponds - Bluegills are good with bacon or worms. Catfish are good using stink bait. No reports on other species.

East–Central, including the Pecos River

Coyote Creek - Flow is 1.9 cfs and the water is low and murky. Trout are fair with Pistol Petes, salmon eggs and orange Power Bait. 591 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Pecos River - Flows are 104 cfs near Pecos and 1,410 cfs below Sumner Dam. Hatches are still in progress and trout are good below Terrero. The area below Sumner Dam is closed to fishing because of the water release. Last week 2,109 rainbows were stocked from Cowles to the Village of Pecos.
Conchas Lake - Walleye are good with chartreuse Gizits, jigs and worms. Crappie are scattered and slow. A few smallmouth and largemouth bass have been caught with Senkos. Catfish are good using stink bait or worms.
Morphy Lake – Trout are reported as fair with orange Power Bait and salmon eggs working best.
Santa Rosa Lake –Water is being released and fishing has slowed considerably. Walleye are slow with jigs, worms or minnows. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are reported as slow with spinner baits and jigs. Crappie are slow using minnows. No reports on catfish. 70 channel catfish were stocked last week.
Storrie Lake –Trout are reported as good in the mornings and early afternoons with yellow Power Bait and fireballs. Catfish are good in the mornings with cut bait or chicken liver. No reports on bass.
Sumner Lake - Winter trout waters, stilling basin – The water is muddy due to the water release out of Santa Rosa Lake. Fishing is slow for all species.
Ute Lake – The water is clear and temperature is 75 degrees. Walleye are good trolling crank baits or spinners with leeches. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are good at 12-15 feet with soft plastics. White bass are schooling and are being caught on the surface with crank baits. Catfish are good using stink bait. No reports on crappie.

Southwest

Gila River - The flow is at 38 cfs and the water is murky. Fishing is slow in the Middle and East Forks with Panther Martins, spinners and salmon eggs. Reports are fair at Willow Creek and fishing is good with salmon eggs off the Catwalk.
Rio Grande - The flow is 2,160 CFS below Elephant Butte Dam. No fishing report.
Bill Evans Lake: Winter trout waters – Trout are reported as good trolling cowbells. No reports on other species.
Caballo Lake – White bass and walleye are hitting on worms and fishing is good from the bank and trolling. Catfish are good with worms or minnows. Crappie are good along the west side of the lake using minnows.
Elephant Butte Lake – White bass are reported as very good trolling shiners or sassy shad. Largemouth bass are good with white bombers or slab spoons. Walleye are fair using bombers, Rapalas, or shiners. Crappie are very good with jigging spoons and minnows. Striped bass are slow to fair trolling live bait. Most have been in the 20-22 pound range. Catfish are good on shrimp.
Glenwood Ponds –Trout are reported as slow with salmon eggs or Power Bait.
Lake Roberts – Trout are slow. Catfish are fair near the dam with chicken liver and worms. No reports on bass.
Quemado Lake – Trout are slow with salmon eggs or corn. Tiger muskies are reported as good with yellow Z-rays or corn. A few over 40 inches were caught and released last week.
Snow Lake – No fishing report.

Southeast

Black River - Flow is 5.2 cfs. There is no fishing report.
Bonito Creek – Trout are good with worms and salmon eggs. 738 triploid rainbows were stocked last week
Rio Ruidoso - Flow is 13 cfs. Trout are reported as good with worms and salmon eggs working well. 1,849 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Bonito Lake - Fishing is good with Pistol Petes, salmon eggs and worms. 4,438 triploid rainbows were stocked last week.
Bottomless Lakes: Winter trout waters – There will be no more reports until stocking resumes in the fall.
Brantley Reservoir - A mandatory catch and release is in place at Brantley Lake from the dept. of Game and Fish. Pesticides, DDT’s have been found in the fish, do not keep or eat them. There have been a lot of boaters, but no fishermen.
Carlsbad Municipal Lake - No report.
Grindstone Reservoir - Trout are reported as fair with Pistol Petes, worms and Power Bait.
Lake Van: Winter trout waters – There has been light pressure and fishing is slow.
