WEATHER CONDITIONS ON LEECH LAKE HAVE BEEN PERFECT FOR FISHING AND BOATING ACTION
I feel this past week that the Dog Days of summer started on Leech Lake as anglers had to deal with winds, calm waters and the hottest temps so far this season. The May Fly hatch is over and that should help fishing to become better and this week the weather is suppose to be better with wind and temperatures. Some good walleyes were caught this week around Pelican Islands North Bar using a lindy rig and a leech. Other good reports in the main lake came from anglers fishing Northland Reef, Big Rock Reef and the Stony Point area. Second Duck Point and the Trench in Sucker Bay produced fish with anglers pulling bottom bouncers and shad raps. Walker Bays Sand Point and Cedar Point gets the action for the evening bite pulling a crawler or shad raps. Muskie action has also been good with many Muskie caught and released of all sizes, the Large Mouth Bass bite has been good in Boy Bay and Steamboat Bay.The city of Walker on the fourth displayed a fantastic day for the whole family with a huge parade many fun activities at the Walker city Park and finally a Fire Works display that would be hard to top on a perfect Leech Lake evening. The Leech Lake area has many more great activities still happening this summer and fall so make your reservation now by calling the Walker Leech Lake Chamber of Commerce office at 800-8331118.
