I don't really know what to say right now. I am shocked. All I can say is, "Fishing means very much to me and my way of life." I don't make money by fishing, but I dream everyday of how wonderful it would be to fish professionally or commercially. As for right now I work hard in the struggling construction business to fund my hobby. It is not cheap by any means, but to me it is worth every expense. I have to make sacrifices, here and there, so that I can fill my boat with gas (just like everyone else, I'm sure). I write this with sincerity and passion. I want congress to know it is not right to snatch one's rights away.
I feel the United States government has lost its core values. I get the impression that it is pushing us towards a purely socialist society. In order for the government to transform towards socialism we would have to surrender all jobs associated with leisure. Congress we want the right to choose what we do for a living. I want to chase the man in the blue suit. I like my leisure, and I sacrifice to get it. Congress you have to let go of your pride and do what is best for this country. Socialism cripples the strong and promotes the weak. God was a fisherman, and a fisher of men. You should turn to him during these times of struggle.
I listen to that ******* lie all day long and knew Lubchenko or whatever was against us but to hear her talk.....That of course was complete drivel

NOAA Appoints Advisor for Recreational Fisheries
Russell Dunn named to new position.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced the appointment of Russell Dunn to the newly-created position of National Policy Advisor for Recreational Fisheries. Dunn, who has experience in federal management of fisheries, will serve as a coordinating liason between the recreational fishing community and its numerous organizations and the federal fisheries management system. His appointment makes good on a promise by NOAA’s Director, Jane Lubchenco, to create and fill the position this year.
First, let me say that the post from "Deep C" truly left me in awe. I think the passion and intensity of those words would touch even the coldest of hearts. For me, just beginning my life in this salt water abyass, I have found immeasurable happiness, tranquility and a feeling of oneness with the earth. Such a huge awakening in myself; maybe that's what our young people are missing these days; maybe that's what is needed to straighten them out in order for them to respect nature and our earth. Having said that, the prospect of not fishing is abhorrent and will have disasterous effects right down the line, from the small mom and pop tackle and bait stores to the major boat dealers, to the brave fisherman (whether they fish for sport or to feed their families). The domino effect is endless and I guess the end result is yet another failure in our economy because of dollars lost, not to mention the trail stark and destitute lives this proposal leaves behind it.
So although I might have only just begun my journey learning about the greatest sport on earth, it is so much more than just that. If I get it, why can't you?
Everyone, without exception should be posting concerning this issue!
